Guest crobinc840
6 weeks is quite young to seperate from it's mother but having another pup around would help it. It would be much harder to train 2 at once and they tend to pick up each others bad habits. It's easier to train them seperately. With such a young pup I wouldn't get an older dog it could be a fatal choice if they are left alone together for an extended amount of time. Another puppy will bond with it quite quickly and if you can get them to follow you then you could have a good pair. With all dogs there will always be one that is better at certain things than the other but it doesn't mean either pup would turn out bad. If you're willing to put the work into it then go for it. Guest deerhound hunter
i would wait untill you see what your other dog turns out like first ,concertrate on 1 dog ,then when satisfied with your dog ,that should be about 3 ,you will have 3 years experience behind you and the new dog will reap the rewards of your knowlege Quote Link to post

tag 29
one at a time for me , and thats how ive always done it , especially if your using them for bushing /hunting up , its a lot easier to work on the recall and concentrate on the job at hand.... hunting , 2 young ens tend to chase each other about more when really they should be watching and learning from an older dog , ive seen people try and do it and the end result is embarrasing , and can often lead to a lot of shouting/calling badly trained dogs back , happy hunting ............
