Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Set out at first light to get to a bit of ground i have before meeting Martin at 9 am.Very still with another overnight frost but surprisingly quiet underfoot . Walkd up the track to the first fields and saw a fox cross a gateway two feilds over .I got my back to a bush ,rifle on sticks and squeaked .The reaction was instant and charlie trotted in perfect to about 50 yds where i stopped him and shot him through the chest. Stalked on but glassed only two seperate 4 point bucks [where were they 2 months ago! ].Met Martin and off we headed to another farm i have .Martin was to get the first over a low hedge at 160 metres off sticks!A big doe full of fat and in tip top condition Left her after the gralloch where she fell and moved on .Covered a lot of ground before seeing another deer ,well three actually ,all mature does .They jumped up from a hedgerow presenting a long shot off bipod to which i dropped one at 187 metres. Another heavy doe full of fat. The farmer drove in the field just after the gralloach and we had a bit of banter with him before we heading back on the long walk to the truck .Martin ,bless him has a brocken rib but steadfastly refused to let me carry my beast in the roe sack he carries .Despite many oooo's and aaaa's he made it to collection point while i dragged the other .Pity the lads up North wernt made the same as that, lol, then they wouldnt moan about the recent few inches of snow theyve had .[incoming] Quote Link to post

FOXHUNTER 5,021
Now now mate , you know you have it easy down South . All the game down there is semi - tame not like the quarry up North You are tripping over deer and they have nowhere to hide except a few hedgerows Quarry up North is well educated and has to keep its head low to survive. Anyway have you got nothing better to do than shoot deer while some of us have to go to work Not that Im extremely jealous of course mate  Anyway dont shoot them all and save some for me Quote Link to post

Anyway have you got nothing better to do than shoot deer while some of us have to go to work Not that Im extremely jealous of course mate  Anyway dont shoot them all and save some for me I have other people doing the work for me mate as you know .Some of us had the forsight when younger to let others graft while we do the more demanding work of stalking and fishing etc.You too could be an entrepreneur if you tried Ps if you wernt so hard on the deer and let them get their whole body out the wood then maybe you would shoot more.
