rob190364 2,594
If that's what you want to do and are so convinced the pups will turn out perfect, get on with it. Considering the amount of back flack you are receiving, how do you intend to deal with the rest of the litter, because by the sounds of it not many on THL would have one no but there will be a queue of people called ethyl, dorris and margaret at the door! Yes you right and we all know why, they have had all my pups over the years , well not know more. Watch this young manchester in 2011 having a go at agility a real Novice could your lurcher do better my friend. TAKING FLACK FROM BREEDERS BELOW.! Dont be fooled by: BMTC associate members! British Manchester Terrier Club breeders have a cartel on this breed thats why they are on here posing as lurcher breeders. They dont sell bitches to non club members and they dont want other breeders breeding them and making them a popular dog with lurcher folk. But we only need dogs.! Just take a look on their website at pups for sale, Dogs only ! A real lurcherman knows where this type dog should be and its not with the kennel club. Thats the end of it O.K. Cross-Line 0
I`m sure the Kelpie is a mix of Manchester and Collie already, I have seen a B&T Kelpie lurcher with the manchester pinch marks on the feet. a good fix for collie/ Lurcher feet, Terrier blood. I will go back to old B&T blood next , looking at B&T dog paintings around the 1800 you can see B&T dogs that look more like the B&T Kelpie x greyhound/whippet lurchers, than the MT of today. I gues this was before the kennel club members started adding bull blood to make them into a real show dog, you can see this in later paintings. the kennel club started around 1850 and so did the problems with most dogs , to much inbreeding. I was told that the " Norfolk Manchester Terrier " line are good working types.? My kc stud was from the RED line which is a show dog line as most are not workers. but the pups from him and my lurcher made lovely pets and good little rabbiting dogs. Change comes like a little wind that ruffles the curtains at dawn, and it comes like the stealthy perfume of wildflowers "hidden in the grass". I bred 3 litters and they were snaped up. 2 went to manchester terrier breeders in the USA. 1 went into Europe, this buyer was a manchester terrier breeder too, he told me a good manchester terrier cross was werth more than a pure blood dog in Europe, so this speaks for its self really. 1, other pup went to ireland. the rest went around the u.k. I kept the price well below the kc dogs at £450 each for a puppie and sold them on epupz as working whippet x manchester terriers. if your interests in breeding your own high quality lurcher line : and haven`t been deliberately put off silly remarks . Breed a Manchester Terrier dog over a B&T Kelpie x greyhound/whippet lurchers or Saluki x whippet . job don you wont be sorry, top class dogs. Thats the end of it O.K. Homepage - British Manchester Terrier Club Best of luck Lads! try making some real cash on you dogs. Regards PS. 3 GRANDAD_1948 Edited December 5, 2011 by Cross-Line Quote Link to post

fieldsman 51
Cant speaks volumes on dogs I havent tryed, but lets try and rate some which I have tryed over the years. Collie/greyhound : good for rabbits, but bad feet. 4 out of 10 Bedlington : rabbit and ratting to small really. 4 out of 10 Whippet : good for rabbets but short winded and a whiner . 5 out of 10 Greyhound/whippet : fast but a real puller and whiner. 4 out of 10 1/4Deerhour 3/4greyhound : good alround but big. 8 out of 10 whippet/saluki : good for what it was bred for hair dog 7 out of 10 saluki greyhound x bedlington whippet..Best so far 10 out of 10 saluki greyhound bedlington whippet x manchester terrier . first cross came out a bit small at only 19" rabbit & fox 5 out of 10 Well I think that will do on lurchers! You must have owned a poor quality Whippet the only pure bred dog with better wind than a Whippet is a Saluki a few on this site have said Whippets cant stick all I can say is they havent seen a good working Whippet I have timed them not only mine but dogs that were owned by others and a few were good for more than 4 mins and one was timed coursing for 6.20 yes it was blowing and was a bit wobbly but 20 mins later ran again. wippydoo 12
I had mannies for many year 30 years ago. I'm not saying they're the best dog in the world depends what you want them for. They're sturdy hard as nails healthy little dogs with a turning ability and speed that's superb. We only used ours for ratting at which they excel but I can see them making a versatile little hunting dog crossed with the right breed for what you want.the ones we had tended to be a little stockier boned than the ones around now. They're on the endangered breeds list as there's so few of them around now. Many years ago they were extremely popular as a working mans dog but they fell from popularity when ear cropping was banned.they were pit dogs in the earlier centuries being matched to kill rats in a timed bout. Too brave for their own good though at least the ones I had were 1 Quote Link to post
