hogdog 61
There was a fella on here a while ago who was breeding them but he seemed really confused about what he was trying to achieve and was going for a certain look rather than anything functional. Not knocking the cross, just saying that be careful who you buy from if you do find a litter. Quote Link to post

Give it a Google it should come up. Quote Link to post

Beddy-Poacher 30
Sounds like a handy little bushing, ratting & rabbiting dog.. but there is already plenty about.. Quote Link to post
Gerry48 10
Just interested in the cross, my uncle had one, he had two actually over a period of ten to fifteen years, he purchase the first one from the Exchange and mart, a bitch he called Gypsy, she was a very good all round rabbiting dog, she done everything you would want a rabbiting dog to do,so i was just wondering if this cross was still used, but sadly it looks like it is not, what a shame. lampinglurcher 36
i dont really see what the manchester terrier could bring to the mix nowadays. if its what you're after then go for it, id be interested to see how you get on. Quote Link to post
Gerry48 10
Intelligence and agility, go on youtub type in Manchester Terrier agility, and you will see what i mean Quote Link to post
hogdog 61
I'll second that, I saw a cracking example of the Manchester in Mallorca and it was without doubt the most agile Dog I've ever seen. It was running up and down a rocky mountain face like a mountain goat on steroids. I'd love to see them put to work as I'm sure there aren't many Dogs that could match them for speed and agility. Gerry48. Hi Gerry, I crossed a kc manchester terrier over my lurcher some years back when they was talk of a hunting ban, I wanted to breed a good worker which didn`t look like your average lurcher to the public, my old lurcher was 21" saluki greyhound x bedlington whippet, truely the best lurcher mix I`ve ever had for hare rabbit and pheasant. Anyway from this cross I only had 2 pups both bitches, they both made 19" and would take rabbit and fox. a bit on the small size really, but very fast, smart and strong. I have only got a dog from this line left now as i lost my bitch to a munkjack. but if i find a good alround lurcher bitch of a good size with the black & tan gene , I will put him over her, so watch this space my friend.! , Edited November 21, 2011 by Cross-Line Quote Link to post
rob190364 2,594
don't really see what this cross would do that a pure whippet wouldn't do to be honest......wouldn't it just be like a slower whippet? Quote Link to post

No your right I wouldn`t cross to a kc whippet but a nice working whippet cross or lurcher. you can say the above about most lurchers really , I have owned 1, whippet and 1, whippet x greyhound over the years. The whippet was fast but a bit of a whiner and short winded really, the whippet x greyhound was a real boiler , super fast but god he was strong a nightmare on the lead, puller. I wanted to breed a good worker which didn`t look like your average lurcher to the public, and which would walk to heel in the hunting field, until told to seek = abidient.
