I have never insured my dogs and i bloody wish i had done! I have spent far too much on vet bills and haven't been able to give one of mine the treatement she could have benefitted from because of no insurance, i have got my newest pup insured though and will do for every new recruit in the future, vets don't get any cheaper. I use petplan as it has the best feedback from alot of people, it's the dearest but you get what you pay for, i pay £32 a month for a 'covered for life' policy and that includes upto £6000 in vets fees. It really is nothing to pay compared to what needs paying when the dog does get injured. Cheaper than my car insurance!

All my 4 are insured with NFU, i wouldn't keep a dog without insurance now. Over the last 8 years or so i have claimed thousands back in vets bills, its NEVER once been a problem claiming. I love the peace of mind insurance brings . . . . just last week i walked into the vet with the terrier, sedation, x rays, cruciate repair and £1200 later . . . . . i'd say £40 excess is a bargin!

Both mine are insured through Animal friends insurance, i only have the accident cover at the moment, cost £9 a month for £2000 accident cover (each) i will upgrade soon but for now i have peace of mind that they are covered for any accidents.

i was told they wont insure working lurchers because of the things that can go wrong with a running dog,or do you say its just a pet dog.

My two Lurchers and Terrier are insured with TESCO(multi dog policy) £29 per month £60 excess. The lurchers are described on the policy as Large and medium cross breeds. Have claimed twice in the past 4 years on both dogs and they have payed up with no questions asked.
