These guys never ducked a fight not like the big poofs that are about now. Heavyweight boxing is dead on it's feet now.

Would love to have seen Ali (the scummy musi) go up against a young Tyson, reckon hed be f****d myself. Joe Calzagi was a game fighter IMO.

 

Tyson is also a Muzzy and would of been embarrassed by Ali.

Best of all time in my opinion. Much as I admire Ali, in the Thrilla in Manilla, it was Ali who wanted to jack. Seconds later Frazier's entourage pulled him out. Frazier wanted to continue.

It was an awesome fight. Even when I watch it now, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It was two men as near to death as you'll see. Each had to recover in hospital.

Ali had a way of getting to his opponents. Frazier to this day talks daily about the fights they had and how he reckons he came out on top.He was really sore about being called an Uncle Tom by Ali and has never forgiven him. In fact Frazier mocks the state of Ali's current health and asks, pointedly and cruelly 'who really won the fight?'

Id go as far as to say Frazier was possibly the gamest heavyweight fighter who ever lived....the systematic beating he took in that fight coupled with his fighting style meant only the very gamest of characters could or would have kept walking forward in that fight.Frazier only knew one way to fight so whether things went his way or not he stuck to what he was good at most often he wore people down and it paid off,a few times it didnt.....unfortunately i dont think he was ever the most pleasant of individuals and im told he,s a bitter old man today.Still detests Ali,apparently whenever Ali,s parkinson comes up in conversation he is quick to say " i did that "......

No doubt it was the greatest era of boxing.....at any weight not just heavyweight.

All things considered Holyfield was a great fighter,unfortunately his weight was against him he wasnt really big enough for the heavyweight division but there was no money at cruiserweight....his best fights in my opinion were at light heavyweight....great fights he had with Dwight Qawi,Saad Muhammed etc etc that will be forgotten because he will be remembered as a heavyweight.....Very crisp and clean puncher in his day,could take a great shot and was an intelligent boxer.....career just went on a little too long for my liking.

One of my favorite fighters ever Randy Turpin,my old dad would tell us stories about him,how he was way ahead of his time....The Leamington Licker .....with a bit more knowledge and dedication to the sport he could have been one of the greats.....shame the way he ended up.

Ive had some top nights out at the boxing ,seen Bruno , Hatton , etc but I still watch the tape of the first Benn v Eubank fight , toe to toe all the way , you can see them both wincing in pain at every blow , in commentry , Jim McDonald keeps repeating "This is a war " ! Two tough , hard men .

I certainly dont mean any disrespect to the bull, but imho the only reason he was able to spend any length of time in a ring with Ray Robinson was because he was teak hard and had a freakish chin.

 

Tommy Hearns sure could bang, but was always a bit fragile when on the receiving end.

 

Benn, great crowd pleaser, but no plan B.

i liked ali and a few others at different weights such as lennard because they were boxers as well as game and hard men after all boxing is an art and a skill, although big punchers and chinny opponents sure make it exciting.
