I'd personally go for bitches. My two get on like a house on fire but when I had two dogs before they use to fight every now and then. Pretty nastily too, even tho they were both done.

I have 3 bitches and a dog pup and will keep a dog pup again in the future. I find a mix keeps the balance. My two eldest bitches have had a couple of nasty fights, i find that bitches are worse fighters than dogs if they take a dislikeing to another but it's down to the individual dog/bitches character.
