borntohunt 19 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Share Posted December 6, 2010 Hi all, have my longnets already quicksetted.. but yesterday while i was picking up the christmas tree in Homebase, i noticed what they are calling growing canes. for 98p for the short ones and they have bigger thicker ones available. they look just the job for longnet poles. anyone used them ? Fat-Ferret 857 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Share Posted December 6, 2010 I know the ones you mean, they look like solid plastic, but there hollow light aluminium or similiar dipped in plastic. I used them on a net for a couple of seasons a few years back and they worked well, as long as the ground was sandy. Hard ground or frozen sandy ground saw the end of them... Quote Link to post
andy s410c 60 Posted December 7, 2010 Report Share Posted December 7, 2010 Just replaced my Hazel poles on both my qs longnets to 12mm fibreglass & for me it makes a big difference.The net is more easy to set, as in the quarries the earth is mixed with limestone shale which was not to easy to get through with Hazel.Yes there expensive but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet to get the job done.
