I have seen muntjack deer in 2 different locations near glasgow.....once with a team of beaters whilst driving a wood for pheasants about 3 or 4 yrs ago and again about 2 months ago whilst out ferreting.

on both occations it as a single deer ..... are they usually quiet solitary animals ??

all the best

Rick

You want to think very carefully about running them. The bucks can take a heavy toll on a dog. People who have only run roe think that they will be easy. Catching a buck is one thing, having your dog come out without being ripped up by their razor sharp tusks is something else. They are two to three times the weight of a fox and very strong. Foxes only produce little puncture wounds, muntjac tusks will produce slashing tears and I know of dogs killed by them. They also use their antlers and hooves. Anyone thinking of running them should make sure they have got good pet insurance, becuase sooner or later you will need it.
