JohnGalway 1,043
Taking the gun out of the safe, connecting the battery I kept repeating to myself "Don't forget the camera in the high viz jacket pocket". Arrived at my Dad's land just as it was getting dark. Parked up at the crossroads and started walking back the path. Just as the church bell in the village across the bay was ringing out the Angelus I saw my fox had been out earlier than I. The eyes appear twice along a boundary fence with the neighbours, and appear to be slowly traveling away from me. Dad had told me a good while back he'd seen scat and tracks. But I'd not been too bothered until now, too much other stuff to be doing. It took me about 15 minutes to make it back the path and up the hill, over which the land drops away into the Atlantic. 15 minutes for a journey of 350 yards or so :pac: Crunch, crunch, crunch on the frosty ground, I took it slow as I don't know if that fox is still on my side of the hill or has she gone over the top? When I get over the flat on the top of the hill my fox immediately looks at the lamp. The field is about 20 acres and she's down in the opposite corner to me. She starts traveling diagonally up in my direction. But, I know she's just looking for her spot in the fence to cross into the neighbours field. Same difference to me except I'd rather nab her in this field and not have the complication of the fence between us. She's ducking and diving in and out of bunches of rushes, in front of and behind rocks and hillocks. This one isn't for stopping either, she's traveling to get away from the light. Almost running into a bunch of this Springs ewe lambs she stops for a moment and goes no further! A small vixen, range was something like 155 yards I think. I forgot the camera Headed off to Jurassic Park for an hour, but there was neither a hungry nor horny fox to be had. Quote Link to post
