Another Dig to Jack

Recommended Posts

Went out yesterday for an hour with Flash28 and Warrior22 to try a burrow that wasn't holding at the start of the season. Entered Jack, started marking pretty much straight away. Read 0.9 on the box, gave him 20 mins and started to dig. The ground was like concrete it was that cold. It took us just over an hour before we reached him and a very 'dead' big dog fox. He seems to be improving after every dig. Flash28 should be well pleased with him, I would be if he was mine.

We had a young dog with us, 13month old black patterdale, he's half brother to Jack and Scent, same father to a good sensible bitch from Galway. Young dog was showing interest in the hole we opened up so I slipped him to have a look around. He was sniffing at the hole. I just left him, all of a sudden he just shot straight down and started mixing it about 2 ft in. We left him for 10 mins and he drew a vixen. We left her run as this isn't a problem spot for us. Before anyone starts shouting the odds, I wouldn't usually let a dog run on at 13months old but this dog is as strong if not stronger than his 2 older brothers and is a nut case and would have been well able for a fox at 9/10 months. Will hold him off for a while but a promising start I thought.
