damn_it!_missed_again 0
Hi there, Well after some back garden plinking as a youth, now in my 40's, I've found a farm with rabbits and permission!! So Bought myself a Webley Longbow and scope with the intention of taking bunnies at some point. I've spent some time at a range trying to zero the scope and work out what to do with my milidots !! And while I was there, a couple of guys came in with PCP guns ( I'm learning the terms now !) Their guns were so quiet it made me wonder.... And this is where I could do with some "expert" opinions.... Is it going to be a case of: take 1 bunny with my springer and scaring the rest away with the noise Vs PCP multi, where you can kill 10 before the rest have noticed anything?? Or am I being paranoid as a lot of people seem to rate springers for hunting and theirs are probably as noisy as mine. A penny for your thoughts........................ Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Hi and Welcome to the forum A silanced PCP makes as much noise as a springer when the pellets hits the skull of a bunny You can silence (to a degree) a springer, although you will not notice it with your gun next to your lugs upon firing as the action makes a noise. Silence a springer and 30 40 yards out you won't hardly hear it. Just like a pcp. However listen to the sound of lead on skull (by far the noisiest part of the kill) and you will see why a field with 10 bunnies in it will not have 10 bunnies after the 1st shot, by either a pcp or springer! If its virgin land, then you may well get more than one shot off and bop more than one or two bunnies, before they realise whats happening Again Welcome to the forum Phantom Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
I should also add that you wont have to wait too long for them to pop out again after their brethren have taken their last heartbeat Usually 20 to 30 mins Phantom Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Spot on that answer Tony bud. My record is 13 in succession at Davyt63's permission in about 5 minutes using a silenced springer. This is the only time though that i have gotten more than about 2 or 3 in succession. Normally the sound of the impact on a skull makes the rest run for cover for a period of time. If the bunnies are young ums then you will stand a better chance as i did at Davy's.
