bull101 35
wait till the pup is older and it catches its first rabbit, all the silly twats off the site will be going mad for them. they will out-fashion the bull grey's Quote Link to post
ReggieCuz 18
For english quarry I have to question this cross. BUT, this cross would likely be a good start for a pig dog anywhere where pig hunting is common. I've seen pure rotties on pigs and they did well, I've also seen pure rotties who have turned tail and run for the hills as soon as a decent boar throws them 3 metres away. Rottie/greyhound would be good for big animals that can fight back. Whether or not they are fast enough to catch a rabbit or a hare is to be seen. Apart from that, I'd welcome a cross like this in my pigging pack in Oz. Depending on if the dog's got the balls to go back in after being hit by the pig, of course. But, a good rottie and a good greyhound might just produce the goods. It'd be interesting to see how this pup turns out,. Quote Link to post

villebones 4
For those that were interested heres a recent pic of the bitch. Very strong dog, not the fastest but shes got brains aswell as a strong prey drive so she should develop a suitable running style to get her game. Shes about 26tts at the moment and will be started this coming season, rabbits beware Quote Link to post

chartpolski 23,279
I'm sorry, but I think it looks like any other street cur, how do all you guys come out with "nice dog mate", "smart dog mate", etc ? I hope it works out for the owner, but I doubt it will be any good as a Lurcher. As I say, good luck with it, and I hope I'm proven wrong. Cheers. 2 Quote Link to post

Although i do think it is a good looking dog, I have to agree that I too am not convinced the bitch will be fast enough to catch much in the open. However the lad that owns her is wanting to give her ago and see what she is capable of. If shes no good in the open she can have fun chasing game through cover. Like I said she has a strong prey drive and soo she might aswell be used for something instead of being sat in the house all day Quote Link to post
