Guest Ditch_Shitter
The Leitrim Experiment ~ Week Two People, I have no shots for ye, because I just never had time to take any in good light today. However, I'm here to tell ye there has been virtually No Change in that Flora Pro Active Margerine on my window frame! Even after Two Weeks! Further; During the week I bought myself some KerryGold, pure Irish Butter. I've now scraped a similar knob of That onto my window. Within two inches of the margerine. Now we can start a new phase in The Leitrim Experiment! With an exact, two week, head start on the Butter, let's see which shows Any signs of being NOT PLASTIC first! I'll try to get a good shot of the Butter tomorrow. Mheanwhile, my betting is that it'll go obligingly green and mouldy a damn site sooner than the Yellow Peril so close beside it! Incidentally; I find Butter's a bitch to get onto bread, when it's cold from the fridge. Could this be why so many of us got mugged by the (spreadable) 'Margerine' ? Is that same, 'conveniance before all' mind set why so many feed their Dogs carcinogenic shit out of a greasy sack? No wonder so much Cancer!
Guest Frank
Leave the butter out of the fridge Ditch, tastes better too. Frank.
jasper65 6
Our Butter sits in a Butter dish out on the top Ditch! but if it does find its way back into the fridge! just Nuke it in the Microwave for 10 - 20 secs, don't over do it though or it will be slop .... Guest JohnGalway
Right, somehow I managed to miss this thread (obviously my aim is transfering itself onto the internet) until this morning. Spent the last 5 minutes reading, in tears laughing. Totally needed that as I'm in the middle of doing my accounts , down with reality I say. First things first, ya filthy fecker DS . I can imagine the reception I'd get if I'd a selection of butters and marges spread on the windowsill of my girlfriends appartment Yet I'm strangely tempted to try it... I'm firmly in the butter only camp now, herself being from Kerry I won't have much thinking to do on brands... I'm definately marking this thread down as a favourite when I get home I'm still laughing at the image of a mink trapped in a pool of half butter half marge being attacked by some type of mutant plastic/bacteria hairy green gunge, I hope you've perfected your lassoo on a stick DS, you may need it sooner than you think Edited January 20, 2007 by JohnGalway
charlotte hill 0
Got this of another site but its enough to put you off Margarine for life , Give me Butter any day. BUTTER vs MARGARINE Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings. DO YOU KNOW... The difference between margarine and butter? Read on to the end...gets very interesting! Both have the same amount of calories. Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams. Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of Butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study. Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods. Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added!Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods. Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years. And now, for Margarine: Very high in Trans fatty acids. Triple risk of coronary heart disease. Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol,(the good cholesterol)Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold. Lowers quality of breast milk. Decreases immune response. Decreases insulin response. And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING! Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC. This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance). You can try this yourself: Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things: * no flies, not even those pesky Fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something) * it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value; nothing will grow on it Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast? Share This With Your Friends.....(If you want to "butter them up")! Always eat butter anyway!!! But if for any reason I am tempted to try a "healthy margerine" I will think again now I have read your post!!!
sniffer 167
I have never realy liked marge, but she did spread easy thou
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Leitrim 2 ~ The Butter Ok, folks. There it is. That's genuine KerryGold Butter, that. Went up on the window frame yesterday I've shot this one sans flash. I find that gives a clearer view. Now, we mustn't forget, the marg' already has a Two Week head start in the 'Do Something' stakes here in Leitrim. So far? It's done absolutely f*ck all! I've had the kitchen range burning well, for hours, most nights. It's got comfortably warm out there. Nothing. Not wishing my life away here, but I'm gagging to see what this butter looks like, after its first fortnight on my kitchen window frame. And, by then, the " One molecule away from Plastic " marg' will have been there an entire Month! Get on about ye own mundane lives now, people. Here in deepest Co. Leitrim fasinating acts of science are taking place. I'll update ye on this intrigue as and when anything more notable happens, or in a week or twos time. Which ever comes around first
Guest JohnGalway
It's life Ditch, but not as we know it! Or is it? Any movement on the Leitrim experiment?
nelson 0
Got shut of the last of the Marg, got to admit them sandwhiches don't half taste better with butter ( anchor as recommended by kiwi)
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Using " Kerrygold " myself ~ well; It's Irish, isn't it? Must say, it is nice to actually Taste something too! Leitrim Experiment ? In order to keep the cronology easily trackable, I normally only report in on Fridays, day I put the specimens out, look. But as it's only minutes away from an official Friday now ..... Just been out there and took a look with the flash light. Margerine's looking a bit paler than I last remember it. I've also noticed a couple of unidentified, brownish flecks down on one corner. Buggered if I know what's going on there! Butter? That's been there some time less and has simply developed what looks like a sort of hardened layer on the dorsal surface. Seems slightly darker there. What ye have to realise, of course, is that my kitchen's as cold as an unused cow shed just now. I no longer use the range out there and the specimens are right against a dillapidated window. Once the weather warms up though, I expect we'll start seeing some real activity there Don't worry. I've never forgotten this Thread. I'm in this for the long haul
