when I started the only the only information available to me was books from the Library! and also finally coming into contact with other falconers which was thin on the ground back then, many of these books I would read to cover to cover, put them down! and read them all over again gleaning as much info as possible.

these days there is a good few clubs to join and a whole lot more people practicing the sport, like any sport be careful with some advice as not all is beneficial and probably more detrimental. getting out with a good falconer on top of his game or a good genuine falconry course by a reputal established tutor would also hold you in good stead when it comes to taking up your first bird.

I have to say hands on experience is everything! reading books and listening to people will help you gain some knowledge on the task ahead but one on one handling and conditioning will give you a better insight into the sport.

you could also contact the British Falconers Club in the link below, they may be able to help you with information on people in your area.
