help with the pigeons please!!!!!

As stubby said, go look for droppings, having found the roost tree "dont" sit under it, youll cut down your angels of fire and get a stiff neck,,,,,,,, sit under another tree thats close by where you can see the area of droppings, this way you dont have to shoot through the branches and twigs and youll be able to see them coming to the roost from most directions, Now the big one " KEEP STILL " Pigeons can spot movement from a long way off, Ghillie suits, yes they work but so does a good net and no movement.

 

Now on the day you want to shoot get in early, morning or evening,,,,, you dont want them to see you setting up, pigeons are stupid but not thick, they will clock all you do, Now just my idea so you please yourself but id not shoot the first bird in ,, let them start to come in freely then "blast um". One small point that maybe true, its seems to be true from my expirence is this,,, if you disturb the birds after they have settled for the night its a long long time before they will return to that roost if ever,,, as i say just a theory of my own but it does seem to hold water

Alrite mate, been doin a lot of pigeon shooting lately with air rifles and found I had my best bags setting a few lofters in a tree just away from wher e there's a feeding place,on my ground there are holly bushes separating small fields,I find these to be most productive for there feeding this time of year on that ground so I'll try and sit up around these areas.

I found just walking over the fields without the gun helped to find the pigeons sitty trees,I always see loads when I ain't got the rifle!!

I dont no if everyone is the same but I always seem to do better when my face and hands are coverd with gloves and a vale,pretty much keep yourself completely coverd just to be safe.

One more thing,keep your eyes pilled they seem to be able to sneak in a tree without making the slighteset noise sometimes.

dont buy a gillie suit 1) youll look like a dick and 2) imo if you need a gillie suit to shoot then you should not be shooting , i would advice getting some half shell decoys , setting in a horse shoue on a flight line they sould land if your formation is good the pick them off , ither that or just buy a shotgun. good luck mate
