auld salmon 28
well out this morn a we bit of snow cover so first sets a big long one long net 90yrds out and a few nets on and started to work along the hedge nowt till 3/4 the way along then 1 in the long net anther bolts other side and away into a set 50 yrds away so finished the big set and onto the one the rabbit went into thought it was a single holer but there must of been a hole on the other side as just happened to look back up the road and there was a rabbit in the long net which i leave up because the rabbits bolt back that way then ferret out and next set got 1 then next set bolted 1 and 1 killed down the hole a wee dig 2ft and got the rabbit next set another 1 thought it had an abses on the back leg butwhen i had a closer look its leg was broken and the bone was sticking out it had been like that for some time. moved onto another bit as had to drop the young lad of as he was cold did one set nowt then back to where we started as the auld lady said there were loads of rabbits in her garden she said it was like watership down in the morning found three one holers nowt in them next set one holer ferret in nowt so lifted the net and away 200yrds along the road another set three holes could only get two nets on my mate opened the box and said there was only one polecat should of been two so a rabbit bolted out the unnetted hole so back along the road to last set were i think i had lost the ferret there was a bit of rough ground across from it switched on the locator and had a good search for at least an hour couldnt find the little :no:no: so was gutted a great worker and a £60 collar so took my mate back home 10 mins away then decided to come back for another look walked round a field for 1 mile just in case she had followed the ditch got back to the rough bit another 15 mins in there again nowt . so decide it was lost headed back to the car with finder in hand checking both sides still nowt then nearly at the car the finder starts beeping put onto locate i was at the end of a roadside drain so looked down and there she was after being missing for over an hour i got her chuffed as f k away home a very happy man back to a full team .i must of forgotten to lift her also while looking for her seen a big hare well down the field and thought there was another but at second glance here was charlie sitting watching it about 15 yrds away and a phesant. tryed to squeak it. was coming until i moved and it took of with the hare still watching him .
