Marksman 934
How do folks...... Well, I've just made it into the house after what I can call an eventful night.... As some of you have already read wor kid fell in some sh*t and came out smelling of roses(as usual) and landed himself a NV unit. As it happens I was already looking at a few on eBay and managed to grab one, and so it was decided that tonight was going to be the night we tried them out, and so the "adventure" began..... It all started with this.... Got to the ground after 40-45 mins drive, setup the NV and away we went. "Hang on" wor kid said....." Forgot to tell you the weather forecast says that between 0100 and 0400 visibility will be very poor" Anyway, I headed up to the Railway sidings whilst wor kid headed over towards the large warrens. Getting used to NV after being lamping for so long is gonna take some getting used to let me tell you! I managed to knock 2 bunnys over but couldnt find them due to the horrendous undergrowth so I think Mr Charlie will be getting a free feed tonight! Then it happened...... The "Poor Visibility" as the weather forecast so mildly put it was a total white-out...Bang on time too....If only I was a betting man! That was that, we hot footed it back to the 4x4and decided to have a photoshoot in the snow..... Oooops.... Forgot to set the timer.... Thats better.... Oh...Hang on the cameras in the wrong place.... Sorted.... Wor kid did manage to knock one over, it turned out to be a young leveret, pretty hard to distinguish through NV when it's flat on it's belly.... Then there was the drive home in the 4" of snow that had fallen over the last hour.... the return journey took us 2hrs 10 mins cheers for reading as usual! Darryl 6 Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi Darryl and Gary. There was me thinking you geordies were canny folk like No, seriously, that looked like a lot of fun . There is somthing about walking around in virgin snow, kind of magical. If you keep warm and dry its great, if you start getting wet and cold, not so good Congrats on the leveret, was that taken with the NV mate? Brilliant effort me dears, enjoyed the pictures and write up too. SP for braving the conditions ATB. Bill. Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Dear Darryl and Gary. I must tell you lads how much I really enjoyed reading this piece. An adventure with new NV kit in extreme conditions and one in the bag! Brilliant stuff. :clapping: Gary dear lad you need some decent gloves mate, nothing worse than trying to shoot with frozen-to-the-bone hands. (I know, I'm turning into my dad! But he would have loved this too.) Sincerely, all the very best for your night shooting, you fellas. Cheers. Simon. Quote Link to post
