ellir0305 9
As the title suggests i am wondering what sized net needle i will be needing for knitting purse nets onto 1" rings? and also i take it you can use as bigger needle as you like for knitting long nets as there is no ring to pass through when starting the knitting process. thanks in advance Rob Quote Link to post

TOMO 26,458
THE needle can be as long as want,, but if you nit direct on to the ring its the width of the needle thats important, there are hand made wooden needles out there longer than 8 ins i have a few about a foot in length but only an inch wide but you can tie direct to the ring by hand,, then nit with a wider larger needle,,, but it can get tight getting through the mesh after you have been round the mesh board and when your tying an extra mesh on the row,, in shaped nets. Spot on TOMO. Get yourself an 8" to start off with aslong as the needle passes through the ring it'll be fine but you'll find it easyer to start off with something less cumbersome. try a straight net first just to get practise with the knots then move onto a shaped net. my first straight net went in the bin. enjoy your knitting mate. auld salmon 28
i use a 5inch needle to start onto the rings mabe 2 rows then onto 8 inch but make sure if you get a bigger needle not to fill it to much as you wont get it through the meshes Quote Link to post
