subwoofer 13
OK the rat traps arrived finally and have been set for a few days, but with no luck, while the lawn damage has continued. There is a new development though, the last few holes to appear have had a plant root pulled out of the soil and some of it eaten away. Do the nibbled roots suggest a different culprit? DogMagic 461
Rats mate, no doubt. Dont expect them to just jump willy nilly into a trap though. Rats have something called neophobia (a fear of new objects). It can take weeks for them to get used to a trap bein there before they go into it. Quote Link to post

Rats have something called neophobia (a fear of new objects). It can take weeks for them to get used to a trap bein there before they go into it. The traps haven't got anything yet. But although not supposedly their normal behaviour I have now seen a potential culprit. A hedgehog! I didn't see it dig, but this morning found some new holes, with a root in the middle, where I saw the hedgehog. Just in case it is rats, I will change the trap to a cage trap so if the hedgehog gets into it I can let it go again instead of it being killed. Quote Link to post
