raymac 0
Cheers Fry I have done a lot of lamping with my dog in the past and have never gone anywhere without permission, but gave that up after having dogs stolen took up fishing instead . but would like to have a go at shooting. Ray Hello there Ray and welcome to this side of the forum If I were you, I'd approach the landowners who let you go lamping with the dogs, I'm pretty sure they would allow you to shoot on their land as you would be continuing to do them the favour of pest control Worth a try? Deffinately HOWEVER: First thing is first: Go find a club or range (as been said, everyone (well almost everyone) will be delighted to talk, show and let you shoot their pride and joy. Secondly handling a few different guns will allow you to decide which powerplant you like best, Springer, PCP or Co2. Thirdly, before you begin doing pest control with airguns; you'll need to put in the practice on paper and metal targets at various ranges until your marksmanship is up to scratch. Once you've got that under your belt, there will be no stopping you, it's both addictive (the hunt); adrenaline fueled and amazingly satisfying watching your quarry go knowing that you've done a good job without it suffering at all. If there is a local gun shop to you, approach them and ask if there is a club local that they know of. Many will point you in the right direction Unless you live in Hull where if you ask; they turn around and walk away Phantom Thanks for the advice Phantom Have to say this site is what i call TOP NOTCH Thank you all so far i went to Hull once Nice trip home lol Ray Quote Link to post

rossy08 33
just a question i know its been asked but if you was starting up would you go for a springer or precharged, what would be best to use, Ray hi there mate and welcome, i see you have already some of the yocals. theres in my eyes two sides to this question. 1. get the pcp no recoil to have to worrie about, hence a little easery to get used to and become compitent with. or 2. if you want to be a true marksmen go with the springer. take a little more skill to shoot and get the hang off. ie hold of the rifle grip ect,if you can shoot well with a springer then a pcp will be a doddel. my self spent many years with springers and never advanced to pcp untill i started working and could afford one. but if your after pcp cant go wrong with air arms, i myself shoot a aas410, got it scope silencer bag bipod 12lt diving bottle mint con for £350. atb Andy Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hiya Ray. Just my thoughts mate. I would probberbly go for a PCP straight away, nice to shoot, very accurate, and quiet too. So many out there to choose from. I think you said your budget was about £500 ish, The AA s200 and BSA Ultra would be a good starting point. Both are very accurate and light, very pointable too. Just my thouhts mate. Good luck with your choices ATB. Bill. Quote Link to post
