Fox wi mates rifle

Recommended Posts

Went out last night with Tony for a wee spot of barrel running in on the range then out to find a few charlies. After having a check on the range that my rifle was still shooting the inch and half over at 100yds I wanted we decided it was time to go and try and get my 243 its second charlie, after driving about the first to farms we were giving up hope after not seeing anything I started to lamp the last of the fields on the road out of the farm and there 50 yds from the end of the road was a nice looking vixen, however as soon as the lamp went on her she sped away diagonally away from the way we had just come .Just as the words 'we will need to leave that for the next time' I thought stuff it ill try and squeak it to see the response ,as soon as I squeaked she came in like a rocket covering the whole 500 odd yds in no time barely giving me time to tell Tony to pass me his 17hmr (to close to houses to use un moderated 243) and pass him the lamp. However Tony couldnt hold the lamp over the disco very well so as I could see the shape of it travelling across me I told him to switch the lamp off and took the shot when I stopped it at about 40yds with a squeak using its sillohette as aiming point and down it went.

if your rifle is shooting that what range can you shoot to get a good clean kill?

i set mine up at inch over @100 at 150 ish its still good for a nice kill in the engine room (but never set a target any further ie 200m ish)

do you set up different targets to see bullet drop?

im not very experienced regarding .243 shooting only shooting one fox and a few crows

whats your experience and others if they read this post

Cass only got rifle 2 weeks ago but at given height it gives 200yd zero and only 7" drop at 300 yds although as I cant get to my other range as fields are soaking I can only go with manufactures figures and say so of others once the better weather comes ill be able to get back on my bigger range :wallbash: but with the damage it did on the fox I got I like it. :victory:

when the time comes(bad weather buggers off )and i can relax in my big field i will get my ranges

sorted out

i bollocks up by fitting a lamp bracket so had to re zero

ive spent more money on play time than actual kill time ,espceially when you seen to go back over

which pisses you off

im now at a 100 yrds for winter work so quite happy as visibilty maybe a bit worse for wear

if and when it gets better i'll be out

happy hunting

lee
