Fell Over Like A Sack Of Spuds

Had a pretty nasty trip this morning while out with the Air Ranger. I managed to get onto a squirrel running through the canopy with me running underneath to keep up, unknown to me there was a snare set in the small path I was running! I hooked my foot in it and over I went :whistling: .

Have to say I have never had pain like it! I couldn't breath properly for a good few minutes and totaly winded and in agony, turns out I have fractured 3 ribs after a X Ray  .

My main worry now is my 400 Bottle. it now has a fair chip in the front edge out of the paintwork plus a couple of sctratches, the rest of the gun seems ok apart from the stock need tidying up. I'm not sure weather to replace the bottle now or paint over the blemish?

Looking under the magnifieing glass I can see scratches actually in the blemish! my question is has anyone ever replaced a Bottle before if so what sort of job is it? having said that I'm no 100% sure it needs replacing, also if the bottle is ok can anyone recommend me some paint to touch it up simular or the same as the bottle?

Thanks In Advance Jasp

hi jasper

sorry to here that buddy

if the bottle isn't cracked, dented, pierced

then it will be ok  car body repair kit,if its straight to metal.then just re spray with black Matt paint

but would advise you to get some camo cover,to protect it in the future.a bright one for the summer because the hot sun on direct black will cause you an accuracy problem,as i have witnessed.

changing the bottle i cant be sure ,but isn't it like other buddy bottles you just unscrew it,to remove it form the action  i may be corrected on that!

Thanks lads for the advice much apreciated

I have broken ribs before but this is getting worse and worse, everything is now starting to seaze up and getting more painful, the missus thinks I'm swing the lead and being a La La :whistling: .

The squirrel probably sat their pi***ng himself when I went down, he'll have one hell of a laugh when he gets back to his drey with his mates. the funny thing is I was winded and in agony trying to shout but nothing was coming out, must of been Hilariouse looking down from a Squirrels point of view :D .

hopefully I'll be able to just get away with a quick touch up like you said Davey if not I'll get hold of Daystate and see what the damage is for a new bottle. I shot the gun off the rest when I got back from A&E and was a bit concerned as its now shooting a good couple of inches to the left and low! I have checked over the gun and it wasn't the barrel or the scope that took the full force but mainly the bottle and side of the stock, hopefully nothing major has happend.

hi jasper

i also have gone over with my AAS410K i think if it wasn't for the barrel band!

i may have bent the barrel, but got it home checked every thing was nice and tight again!

and began to re zero and it was fine!

is yours a floating barrel?

good way to check if its bent is,take it of a roll it over a flat service like a glass table,if it wobbles im afraid its fooked.but they are pretty robust nowadays so me thinks you will be able to zero it back!!

Spot on Davey :notworthy:. I'll take it off later and give it a try.

I'm not sure about this Barrel, it slides into the action above the bottle and held in place by 4 x Grub screws <2 at the bottom and 2 at the top>, must admit if it had a band strapping the barrel to the end of the Bottle this would of helped for a support. hopfully all is well with the barrel and perhaps just the scope moved...

Squirrels are leading 1 - 0 at the moment and probably now pinning a medal on the little shit that had the last laugh on me, I can see them now all having a good piss up in my local woods at my expense :D..

Sorry to hear about your trip mate :icon_eek:

As for your bottle, you could try painting it but you will still see the chip. I would remove the bottle and get it powder coated. Most powder coaters will do a bit cash work on the side and it will probably cost you no more than a tenner.

Get well soon
