collie/grey 238
Can you not kennel your pup outside while you are not home? While you are staying away somewhere could your wife not feed it and take it for a quick walk of a morning and evening? I work from 8-5, sometimes 7-5 friday to friday most of the time and only have alternate weekends off yet i have 4 dogs, currently they live outside bar the old one who sleeps all day and still get walked morning and evening and worked 2-3 nights a week, i don't have any children but even if i did have i wouldn't get rid of my dogs because of them or work, they make my lives whole!! Many people work full time an still find time for their animals. 1 Quote Link to post
Shrophunter 7
Why get a pup in the first place?? if you can not be arsed to look after it wern't you expecting to get a job? my missus works I work but still have time to look after the dog ferrets chickens and pigeons I work 6 days aweek out of the house at 7am and not back until after 6pm 2 weeks of days and 2 weeks of nights I go out shooting ferreting and running the dog Some people shouldn't be allowed to keep animals seems they carn't even look after themselves what a complete knob, how can you judge somone without knowing there situation?????? i also work hard and keep a dog and shoot etc etc and find time to spend with the family, but i dont consider myself an hero like you........ good luck with the new job mate hope you can keep the dog, im sure you will do what you need to do,,,,, It,s simple if you cant hold a job and take care of a dog at the same time.DONT GET THE DOG. noe always as easy as that, things can and do change in life, may happin to you one day Never mate.I have good friend,s and family who would go out of there way to help me out.If i was,ant working i would never need to buy a dog.To give me a reason to get up in the morning. ? To many people useing work as an a way out.Or maybe you should get a dog with every Giro. Thats lovely for you. I wish I was so popular. Unfortunately my family live in another country so can't help out. As for the giro jibe, despite being out of work I never signed on or took a penny from the state I've been living on my savings up to now. If the job was local then there'd be no doubts - I'd do whatever it takes but thats not the case. Thats my point I've been looking for a job all this time then once I get a dog one comes up but its not a regular job. I've had dogs all my life and never sold one because it "didn't fit in with my lifestyle" All have remained with me until they died. But I suppose that counts for nothing, obviously I'm a puppy peddlar. Quote Link to post
Paid 935
No one has called you a puppy peddler, that would of come in a few months, if you hadnt found a job. Quote Link to post
steel 17
I suppose its a question of priorites. Only the man himself can decide. The most important thing is to ensure the pup is looked after, if he cant do it then its better off elsewhere. Personally i wouldnt move the pup on just because it no longer fitted in with my lifestyle. I would do whatever it takes to provide for my family and maintain my dogs. My wife is at uni full time, I work long days, spend one day of the weekend working on the new house and the other hunting plus whatever time i can get in the evenings. We manage to keep 4 dogs, 5 ferrets and the hens, its hard work and tiring but i wouldnt be rid of the dogs for the world. Good luck to the pup and well done for getting a job. Hope it works out for you both Quote Link to post

The Giro jibe was not pointed at you.Read the thread mate.To many people use work as an excuse for passing on a dog.Maybe you should have thought it through before you got the pup.Never said you were a puppy peddlar.Why.You work that one out. Some people get a pup cant handle them.So five or six week,s later on they go.JMO. FightTheBan 1,147
Bottom line is you shouldn't have bought a pup to 'fill the gap' and give you something to do ... you should have bought an x-box or something . Reality is now you are responsible for it and you must find it a good working home and learn from your mistake. FTB Quote Link to post
Tyla 3,179
FAMILYS THE BE ALL AND END ALL GET RID TO MUCH HASELL YOU CAN ALWAYS GO TO B/N/Q AND BY ANOTHER HAMMER .MONEY AND FAMILY FIRST DOGS ARE JUST TOOLS OF THE TRADE.YOU N2VER NOW WHEN YOULL CHANGE YOUR TRADE . Maybe to you but not to everyone. Tools can be replaced no problem, they are all the same, but the years of work and training you put into a dog are priceless. I suppose it depends what you want your dogs for, if your standards are low, or you only use a dog as a point and slip so dont need them trained then maybe they can be replaced but thats not dogwork to me.
