Point Of Impact Change

Recommended Posts

I'm sure there is some top tech guys who can Hopefully answer this.

My gun has a WP of 170BAR, when the gun is fully charged it returns a average of around 730-740FPS, as the gun drops down to 150BAR not only is there a power increase but the gun also seem more consistant and generaly hits a "Sweet Spot" at 150BAR, at this pressure the gun averages around 780FPS until the drop off and charging again.

The funny thing is there is a fair shift is POI! ok there's not much of a drop but the gun also shoots slightly to the right, I end up compensateing for this until around 150BAR when the gun starts to hit zero again :hmm:.

I know on paper it all points to shooting Error but trust me I have exhausted myself trying different methods either from a bench or freehand yet the gun always reacts the same! I'm out of ideas totaly apart from thinking of having a Tench Reg fitted, just like to point out this guns not Regulated and has one of them Harper Valve thingy's :hmm:.

In that case Jasp, your are correct and 150 is the start of your sweet spot.

My S200 has a WP (according to AA) of 200 bar, but its all over the place until it hits 180 ish then its pellet on pellet down to 100/110 then I have to compensate.

Zero your scope at 150bar and see how many accurate and consistent shots you get and then don't fill past its sweet spot and don't let it go below its minimum in the sweet spot.

thanks for the reply T! much apreciated mate

I think thats what I will have to do from now on! topping the gun up past its "Sweetspot" is a total waste of air si I may aswel just top it to its sweetest spot. the only thing that bugs me is the gun from a full charge is capable of around 230 shots before the drop off! this was basically why I wanted a Air Ranger due to the large shot count and also its Ambi stock so my son can use it too.

Out of Interest T! if say I had a Tweaky or Tench Reg fitted would this iron out the power curve and allow me to return to having the full amount of shots from a fill to the drop off? it makes sense what you said to just charge is to the 150BAR <sweetspot">, but I can't help thinking I needed a Mortgage to buy this bloody gun because I wanted the larger shot count, you would think the price these guns are Daystate would have ironed out any power curves from a full charge to top up! must admit mate its a bit disapointing but until I hopefully can sort somthing out I'll just be charging it to 150BAR

Hey Jasp,

Yes I believe a decent Regulator does remove the bulk of the power curve and it should allow you the "Sweet spot" consistancy of accuracy and power output :D

You may even get more shots per fill than that stated by the manual

Only Just seen this post Davey! cracking bit of info plus I look forward to seeing the vid to glean some info .

I must admit I am a bit disapointed that the Air Ranger isn't Regulated :icon_eek:. its big money for the gun so you would expect it to have all the mod cons. I removed the Harper valve from this gun a while back and polished it up useing some advice off the Daystate owners, must admit I should have gone the whole Hog though mate and did the rail aswel which was a bit rough but didn't get round to it.

Its very very tempting to contact the Tench guy to see what he comes up with! then again its a expensive job for a gun that already broke the bank :hmm:, I'm not happy about it mate to be honest....
