hay the best way i found the pluck my ducks is to bath them while still alive with washing up liquid witch breaks down the ducks natural oils

and helps when you get down to the down feathers.

 

this may sound daft but it has really helped me pluck lots of birds and im going to be doing it with the goose iv got for Christmas dinner.

you cruel b*****d lowering that poor goose into a false sense of security by pampering it with a wash then to cut its throat, i hope you choke on it

I always use hot water with the turkeys, but only sometimes with the ducks, as long as they are past the moult they pluck quite easily.
