STUNTMAN 552
Went looking for yotes today with the Jerome crew but found some prairie foxes that if I told you they could run is putting it lightly. It made coursing coyotes look like child’s play. The moves these little guys were putting on were impressive and made other foxes I coursed looked like beginners. We saw 5 or 6 and caught 4. It was balls to the wall action and Capps’s dad didn’t disappoint with a re-verse 180 with SC hanging on the door of the truck ha ha ha, still laughing. For the most part all the dogs did fantastic but the stand outs were Capps’s dog Blue and TC’s dog Hurley both put it down today and Capps’s dog Blue made a catch today that save a bolter and showed he got some lungs and moves for a big dog. One did a bug’s bunny and after close to a 45 second run, dove down a hole. I had my terrier along Goof and he found out he isn’t as tuff as he thought he was lol but got the job done after a short dig. They were bigger than anything I’ve caught back east and you know they can run a lick already. Can’t wait to run one or two with the fox hounds in the fucture. All this with snow caps in the back drop not to tuff to take. Quote Link to post

UphillDoc 278
nice one hows them dogs bred? LL-The big dogs are staghounds [uSA} roughly 27"ats 80lbs bred for coyotes. Terrier is a lakie hello stuntman you said the foxes were harder to catch than a coyote i wonder how they compare to our foxes These fox are more similar in running style to a jackrabbit (hare) than a coyote. They cant out run a stag, but they can out turn one. Sometimes the stags will just roll them up like they were tied to a post, but some will duck and dive and have a stag missing and flailing around like they were tryin to rope the wind. The fox is all about the race/catch, as once caught they arent much more trouble than a hare, as opposed to the coyote, where catchin it is only half the battle, keepin it caught is what seperates the men from the boys, IMO. Take care. Quote Link to post
