cleck 0
Hi everyone , obviously i'm new here and i'm not a hunter but used to own a weirach hw80 ? many years ago and loved the solitude and occasion of an early morning in the field. Having moved back to a semi rural village , i'm lucky to have a few great walks on my doorstep and i would love to get a dog. i'm hoping someone can give me advice on getting a whippet.I dont particually want the dog to work as such ,it will be a pet first and foremost and will be walked daily on numerous farmland walks nearby (bunny heaven) The issue i have is that my lad (6 years old) has an allergy to dogs (his grandad had a boxer and we breifly had a weimarana) , of course i will only get a dog if my lad isn't affected . Ideally we would like to spend some time with whippet owners to see if any reaction is there . If anyone can help with this , i would love to hear from you ....i'm west yorks based. Thanks for reading.
runforyourlife 361
hello and welcome... You may not get a lot of offers on your request mate... lots of dog theft about. I certainly wouldnt be taking my dogs to any stranger to hang around with... Maybe there are a few more trusting folk than i tho. Good luck..

The one 8,473
Try your lad with a poodle or a poodle cross they dont cast there hair so not many people are allergic to them
cleck 0
Thanks for your replies ....we have looked at suitable breeds and we have seen that Poodles should be the answer.....only thing is ....no offence to Poodles or Poodle owners but i will not bother if this is my only option. I was brought up in a household with working dogs , its just a bloody shame that my lad has this allergy .....maybe he'll grow out of it ....only time will tell....but it's a whippet that i want or two in an ideal world. I'll keep searching guys.
