neil cooney 10,416
I have an old video of my old bitch "Murphy" retrieving 30 rabbits live to hand one night. She once took 14 rabbits in 14 runs in 40 minutes. She was born in 92 and was first cross staff. The staff in her being closely related to the very well known staff cross Gr Ch Jenny, other wise known as the Black and Tan. What I'm saying is that bull crosses can be good rabbiters. I also worked Murphy with ferrets and on the lamp she'd take a fox and a few minutes later put a undamaged rabbit in my hand. Quote Link to post

welshnutter69 78
What im trying to say is, theres much better rabbiting dogs out there, and of corse sum goin 2 b able to ratrive alive, most are hard mouthed frm my experience. So my argument aint that thay unable to do rabbits, my argument is, theses much better dogs 4 rabbits, and if thats all u hunt I wudnt go 4 a bullx. Quote Link to post

tb25 4,627
there is better rabbit dogs out there but mine is a half x and what ever is at the end of the lamp she will be ran on rabbits and all Quote Link to post
bird 9,977
bullxs can+do catch lots of rabbits, but i know what you mean it does seem a waste of a dog which (really) bred for other quarry.? All my bullxs have caught rabbits to start with, but would only run them on rabbits, if i could (not) find other quarry.? You want to keep them 100% ready for other things, if they have had 15 odd runs on rabbits it takes the edge of them. red coats can shift+turn very easy. Quote Link to post
stabba 10,745
Bullx always smash rabbits...what a pathetic statement.....sometimes i wonder if it would be possible for members to have an I.Q test before they post such drivel 2 Quote Link to post
mattyg 1,862
the fact that you have to come on here telling everyone that your bullx wont be running rabbits and implying that it will be going for other things means that you maybe one of those people who crave the "bullx status thing". if you aint going to be chasing rabbits with it then i assume you will be using it for rats? if so there are far better dogs for rats in my opinion. it aint just the bullx can do other things, but i bet they look well hard!!!!! enjoy your season! matt Quote Link to post
