retreaving

hi everyone,i have a 13 month old lurcher,great bitch,she lamps well,catches well day and night but won't bring the bloody rabbit back lol,just stands there in the distance mauling it !

she'll retreave sticks,balls etc but not the real thing when it comes to it.

am i expecting too much too soon or what,i would really appreciate some advice on this guys.

Was in your position about three months ago, started re training him with a normal dummy n then a rabbit skin one, day n night about 5 times a day ish n last Thursday took him out for the first real time on the lamp, had about 4 runs n on the 5 th he caught one and retrieved it back, I was amazed, also had some advise of a chap on here not to go fetch it off him if he don't want to bring it in, walk off calling him in n he will either bring it on or leave it, I figure that he will lern to bring it on or looze it. Also got a DVD called perdys progress by dave sleight, very good DVD for seeing what you can achieve, this all helped me recently hope it's of use to you. Not sure how my next outing will go but I'll just roll with it. Atb Dan

As soon as my dog,s can retreave dummies to a good standard.I start them cold retreave.It work for me bud.:thumbs:
