zini 1,939
That's fine Andy buddy, It's good that you told him though pal as at least he knows now where he stands with you mate. I'm happy to give him one last chance as he was good enough to openly apologise and if he meant it then that in my mind deserves some merit. ATB Si Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
I have bought a scope on impulse..er 3 of them actually The scopes are brand new Hawkes I got at discounted prices from Guns International, Barnsley. They are closing down and selling off the stock. The scopes I got are: 2 X HK3069 HAWKE MAP PRO. 4-16x50 AO. These seem to have a quite long eye relief. They seem fine on both my TX200 and TX200HC but on my HW80s they seem to need more foreward position than the rifle's scoperails and backstops will afford. And they are both at the max extent they will sit foreward in the mounts and on the furthermost mountstop hole, foreward of the trigger. With the rear mount almost set up against the scope's mag zoom-ring collar. NOT IDEAL FOR HW80. And.. 1 x HK3226 HAWKE 6-18X44 AO. With SR12 RETICLE This is a long-bodied scope and again seems to have a longer-than-usual eye relief. Also I have set it on medium mounts on the TX200 rifle. But even on this rifle, the scope is at the extreme foreward position it can be set at in the mounts (rear mount is again almost touching the mag ring collar). And the front-focusing ring is a cigarette-paper's width from touching the top of the cylinder. Would this be better, using higher mounts? Indeed, has anybody else found this long eye-relief characteristic, something of a problem on mounting the scope to their rifles? All three scopes are very nicely made and seem very good for the money, which is not expensive, despite the discounts I got them for. Generally from first impressions I'm pleased with their appearence With regard to Collie, Liam airrifle Chubby whatever the hell his name is. I'm reserving final judgement till I see how he conducts himself. Though my instincts are in full agreement with Andy. Simon Edited November 18, 2010 by pianoman Quote Link to post

You'd better be quick with getting a possible scope bargain from Guns International. Karl Slater, the owner has set himself until December 5th when he vacates the shop. Most of the rifles have gone and the scope stock is selling fast. ATB Simon Hi beddyx Tough choice but as you are shooting a recoiless PCP I'd go for the Nikko Stirling Mountmaster. The Hawke scopes I listed above are really nice kit for the money but, needs a fiddle and a fair bit of fine tweaking to get a crisp sightpicture at your prefered range. Also the eye relief of the Hawkes' I have is longer than usual. Try mounting them on your gun if you can before you buy but, the Nikkos have always been a great, reliable no fuss scope that does the job ATB Simon Quote Link to post

markha 99
On the subject of Hawke scopes, I have the 4.5-14x42 sidewinder tactical and its a real pain for losing zero in a big way, not just the odd couple of clicks to re-zero, sometimes it goes way out, perhaps a full turn or more, then just when Im happy with it being zero, ill find it has wandered out again within a few shots. Got it new from fleabay gun dealer, but so pained with it Im seriously thinking of selling it or sending it back to Hawke/Deben. It cost a fair bit and its taken the enjoyment out of shooting with it now as I never feel sure its still on zero, I think a call to Deben tomorrow is going to be made and see what they come up with. If I do get a new scope I think Ill be going for something with a mildot reticle in 1st focal plane - I have my eye on a couple of scopes made in China, by the company that makes the optics for some very well known brands And Im waiting for a price to come back with a view to importing some 3-12x56 1st focal plane etched mildot with side PX, Could be a good business opportunity for a co-operative if anyone is interested????? PM me if interested and Ill keep you updated. Collie - well done for coming clean and being honest, Im quiet happy for you to have just one more username account just for the fun of it and to remember how it all started, but the name must be CHUBBYCOLLIE Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi mark, Send it back buddy and get a refund from Hawke. Thats flipping bad news, it shouldnt loose zero like that bud. Si Quote Link to post
