Hi there,   As far as I can see the ban on coursing will never be lifted. If anything there will be even more restrictions on what can be hunted. Unfortunately over the past umpteen years the dog ga

I dont hunt with a dog, i shoot and fish, i have not the skills to work a dog effectivly, and not the time to train one. I think if the (legal) ban continues then in time, perhaps 10 years or so many

If the repeal goes through and the vote goes our way then yes coursing along with staghunting, foxhunting, beagling and minkhunting will return to exactly how it was before November 2004

It's a pity there's so much negative veiws. Personally if something is worth fighting for then fight for it.

If there's a glimmer of hope of getting it back through repeal from the new government then now is the time to start writing and meeting your local politicians. If enough people hassle them they might sit up and listen.

Also the few pounds that the organisations fighting for fieldsports cost is worth it too.

more important, issues were pursued, and all failed, Hunting is only a very minor issue, the ban will never be repealed, and there has been far more damage done, since the ban, than before,

My main hunting mate went to live in france 4yrs ago on a 200acre farm,he has 7 dogs and can't hunt f*ck all as everything is banned or licenced,it was a big shock to him, even the ferrets are licenced, shooting is about all you can do,as you can imagine it was a big shock to him, there is also no chance of finding employment, they're more f*cked than us,atb, wirralman

the only way it could be brought back legal is if people lobbied thier mp,s etc that it was part of our historical heritage and tradition going back to before roman times and that our living history is being eroded as well as our national identity and that laws must be made to preseve our history from one generation to the other. cockfighting is legal in one area of france because of this and charles de galle,s dad had a likeing for the sport.its not to late, hounds could be muzzeled even.

Its in our DNA to hunt, its what the human kind do, we provide for our families and protect our stock. These muppets at LACS dont realise that they hunt every day of their lives, they hunt in the way modern society has changed non third world countries buy hunting for money in the form of always having a job or looking for the next steal or peddling dope to their other tree hugging buddies. I bet half of them put money to charities that help people in third world countries that hunt for pest and food (these hunters will laugh and joke about the big catch), the same as is here with hunts providing a service to farmers by controlling the pest. What happens if the ban stays and packs of hounds fizzle out one by one and we lose the working bred stuff and many years down the line oil runs out. the world as it is now will be in a real mess, this may not be in our life time but it will be in our childrens and our childrens childrens life time, aeroplanes will be no more as there is no way they will run off H2O or solar power, Cargo ships will be the same unless everything has its own nuclear reactor which would be very enviromentally friendly cough cough. The thing that we will always have is the land and all it provides, it provides the food that sheep, cattle, pigs and poultry live off as well as game birds and all other mammals native to our country. Without the means of controlling the red pest in the form of the working hound, terrier and lurcher the tree hating bunny hugging muppets will have shot our kind in the foot not once by bringing the ban upon us but twice by the fact that the working stock would be in major decline. I say tree hating because when these anti's turn up to try and sabotage a hunt or put on a protest they turn up in numbers and often in vans like the layland daf minibus which on its journey puts out about as much pollution as a boeing 747 on an atlantic crossing, f###ing hypocrites

Not exactly coursing but based around the same laws, coursing probably wont be made legal but fox hunting probably will be made legal

Does anyone know what the Royal families view is on the 2005 hunting act?

I dont hunt with a dog, i shoot and fish, i have not the skills to work a dog effectivly, and not the time to train one. I think if the (legal) ban continues then in time, perhaps 10 years or so many will have lost the skills necessary to course effectivly, this is probably the plan. it is afterall a whole generation to the dog. Many of you will still work away, harvesting as people have done for generations, quietly working your dogs and harvesting the surplus of the country. You will be invisible, like the poachers of old, you will not brag on the net and will not leave any mark on the habitat you hunt(poach as it were) on.

I have respect for these old time countrymen, both young and old, who enjoy their activities, without damage, confrontation and without damaging what i do. I worked very hard for my permissions, still do and manage the wildlife on them. If i lost the odd hare, or rabbit, perhaps even the very occasional roe then i would probably not notice, and if no damage was done then good luck to you. If when i am out with my lamp on the same night as you, if you quietly slip away, without me noticing then again i may suspect, but have the respect and knowledge that someone has been out, had their sport or one for the pot, then so be it. I guess the thrill of poaching well is a huge buzz and skill. I may well have felt this myself from time to time, but would never admit it on an open forum, so for now i simply understand it.

Wreck my permissions, kill everything because you can, and you are not a proud poacher, you are a vandal. I can do this as well, probably more efficiently than with a dog, a lamp and 243 can do a deal of damage. Some may be proud to be such, though hopefully they will discover girls and fast cars soon and lose interest in the country.

I hope that control of hunting with dogs is relaxed, i really do. I hope that the menace of poaching, and to be honest my permissions are so remote that it is not a signifiant concern to me is policed by dog men, by those of you who use the countryside properly.

Ok rant over, i hope many of you feel the same. I hope this forum is one for hunters not vandals. I hope many of you understand.
