chiefdogfoxer 1
never read so much nonsence in my entire life. . . pathetic Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
I guess it all boils down to one thing...RESPECT. Just like with some of the hunting fraternity, theres some that just want to kill. Others want the 'hunt'. Its all about the journey. Quote Link to post
Beddy-Poacher 30
It is a shame but EVERY ANGLER has at some point killed a fish they didn't meen to,lets hope it's lesson learnt. agree with ya there pal. Quote Link to post
HunterBoyTellEm 0
you can tell this isnt a fishing forum. These things may have been said, but i got sick of reading the ignorant stuff half way through so stopped. First off, in this country, for the most part, we fish freshwater for sport. We fish for specimen fish which we catch, admire, and then release so the fish can grow bigger and someone else have a chance of catching it. We take care of our large fish (and small fish), which is why we use things like soft mesh nets and unhooking mats instead of gaffs and hooks. So any large fish that is killed by a careless angler is a sad moment for any PROPER British fisherman. Secondly, the Pike is one of the slowest growing fish in the UK, and large fish are becoming few and far between, even on places like the broads. A 30lb Pike these days is a jewel, unlike Carp and Catfish which grow bigger and bigger yearly. Fishing for Pike in a responsible manner is nothing new though as Pike have always fed in the same way. They grab, then gulp! If you are fishing for pike, you MUST know this. Its not like carp fishing a bolt rig, if you dont get to the rod with seconds of the pike taking your bait, you will more than likely deep hook, and kill the fish. A good pike angler, even when using alarms, will hardly ever take his eye off the indicator. As soon as drops, you hit the fish and hook it in the mouth! Its pretty pointless having our "kill anything that moves" yankee friends comment on something like this, because they probably dont understand the meaning of catch and release. Nor would a shooter who doesnt fish. Coarse fishing in the UK isnt about killing and eating everything that we hook and just meets the size limits, its about conservation and preserving our big fish and having a good time doing it! Killing a big fish in this country is just like the twats who shot the Exmoor Emperor. PLenty of people stalk deer, myself included. But the special things, we leave alone. Quote Link to post
ratattack 111
So you've never killed a fish by accident then????? Also as a stalker you should know a stag at 11-12 years old is one to be culled regardless of head it carries. Tooth wear would be quite advanced in a beast that old Edited December 31, 2010 by ratattack Quote Link to post

joe bloggs 0
Legally allowed to take a fish home, as long as he will make use of it. Do you know how to handle Fish,Who are you to tell [NO TEXT TALK] how to handle fish,So, We will all keep are children in the house and let them play there playstations ,I don't think so ,my kids will be on the river bank with me Learning all about nature ,wild life and Fish and of course the countryside in general,Lock yourself in a room and LEARN how to use a playstation,We all make misstakes but don't forget WE all learn from them, legality isn't the issue here. he should not be fishing for them if he does not know how to handle them, simple niall_b73 Quote Link to post

ferretman22 1
Guys bashing a fisherman for keeping a fish ...on a hunting site ? Really ? For God sakes don't ever go spearfishing...it's never catch and release. love it dont go spear fishing Quote Link to post
mudd dog 128
its a pity he hadn't the knowhow and that the fish had to die. nice speciman. though it's too late crying over spilt milk lads. all you can do is try and educate others and improve your own after care, for whatever species you love to fish for. p.s. if i was to eat a pike it would be a small jack of a few pounds just. reason being a pike of that size and age to me sounds like it would be like eating rubber. so it doesn't really matter if he ate it imo..........cheers........MUDD.......
