chainspot's?

Recommended Posts

a mate of mine has a collie whippet bitch on a chain she has a litter of 8 pups all lived till now and never left her side she is on a chain always has been shes three and a half and works well ... he also has a collie greyhound dog of 6 who has always lived in his yard on a chain with a kennel and he is still working fine .

Wouldnt be my choice i would worry about injury to much but obviously suits some people and its down to them aslongs they feed there dogs and get them out they can keep them how they like aslongs theres a water tight shelter .

if you put the chain in the right area (just common sense not to put it in reach of a fence or tree)its safer than a kennel imo i have done this before (and am doing it now) just not with lurchers.

only ever done it with a tougher more robust type of dog so im not sure how my lurchers will fare, suppose theres only one way to find out.

In what way do you feel it is safer than in a kennel? Does the chain not create a mess dragging through the dung? I shovel up after my dogs twice a day but I was thinking if the chain is dragging through it when the dog is in the one area?

chains are fine by me as said if its in a safe area it wont harm them and the dog will have more room aswell!! if i had the choice of a nice kennel with a 20ft chain or a 6x4 run i no what id prefer

exactly, other than your dogs being more visible it's all round just a better setup imo

not that theres anything wrong with kenneling.

not to say kenneling's not safe but if my dog's see anything outside (a cat for example) they chew the wire and crash around in there kennel's whereas on chainspot they may bark and strain on their chain but wont hurt themselves or damage anything.

What is your reason for wanting to chain it please do enlighten me

easier to manage way for the dogs to live less frustrating for them if i can't let them out for a few hour's (i.e in work)

ive done both and for me chaining is much better for the dog's ive had in the past, whether it will be better for my lurchers is yet to be seen.
