Mastiff 7
hi all, im thinking of getting a fac for christmas, im 17 would i be able to have a liscence in my name. i only want to start with a small .410 .410 is a shotgun mate, therefore you would need a Shotgun Certificate (SGC) not a Firearms Certificate (FAC). Not sure on minimum age for a FAC but if you can prove you have a requirement for a Shotgun you are old enough. Don't wish to be rude but I suggest you have a read up. Mick. Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Old enough to hold a SGC, but not old enough to purchase his own gun or ammunition any more. Quote Link to post

Terryorr 27
In Northern Ireland you can apply for an F.A.C. at 16 but must be supervised until 18 by someone over 21 and has held a certificate for 3 years, then at 18 you can apply for 1 yourself. Quote Link to post
trapperman 474
i got my sgc at 15 but that was 21 years ago i dont know if its changed, but i think my dad had to be with me when i got my first gun (not on his sgc but just to accompany me i think). cant see any reason why you shouldnt get it if you have a reason, if you dont have permission yet just join a clay pigeon club .
