Mish 1
Best couples out ! If your gonna get some I'd recommend getting the add on quick release clips too. You can keep the collars on the dog then, makes things a bit easier. Quote Link to post

marrajack 1
[bANNED TEXT] lads does anyone have these..... are they any good...and do they last. Hope to hear some good replies Thanks again Jason [the buffalo collars are the best leather ones for work, as they still work well when wet. The biothane are the same as the locator collars so pretty indestuctable. Bellman & F are the best you will get for leather, or try Strongstuff, his collars are really good quality & hard wearing. ] Quote Link to post
patterdalepaul 0
. I don't think the 'Buffalo' leather is that good ....... FAR from it . how come chief, do you think it is too soft? Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
I used to think these leather couples were the best, but i had a couple of collars stitching come undone after only one year . I have since converted to strong stuffs collars and they are pretty much indestructable. im sure they would hold a rhino never mind a terrier. Quote Link to post

Shamo 319
If you are asking for honest answers then the best ones are the type you make yourself. Go to a Chandlers and get stainless steel swivels and 'D' Shackles. Use the 'D' Shackles to join the Swivels and Chain together and get yourself two Nylon Collars, or the 'Strong Stuff' ones. The Hound type Couples, which a lot seem to buy, Piss me off! The long Links are too long and if there is a clump of Fern or a Sapling they will go either side of it!! The other disadvantage is that, with the Hound type they can still get to ground. It has happened to me, thankfully not all the way down. It is easy to get one Terrier behind the other, so in they pop. With the shorter type with just the two Swivels I have not had it happen. There are times when you want to let them run loose, with this type you can more easily. 'Worth' is what you want to pay, not a set in Stone thing. The B&F ones are Brass and the Collars seem OK as long as you check them regularly. If they are stitched I usually 'Pop Rivot' my Collars. There are times when I prefer to use two or three seperate Leads, in thick Cover or if I have to Chain them seperately. Quote Link to post
jpt 285
i bought a collar from bell man and flint and was not that impressed with it to be honest. the collar in the top of the pics is one i got made by francis kelly and the second is bell man and flint. the stiching is not in the same class in my opinion. dont know what the couples are like but they look well made when i have seen them at the shows. i must of just had bad luck! Butler 396
I have always got the pop riveted ones and had no trouble with them. Had my oldest ones 4 seasons and they are still as good as new apart from being a bit muddy The only thing i would say is the brass couples are soft and rub through after a season or so Could do with some steel short couples. nelson 0
Got my couples from Johnson feild sports 9 years ago, they still work. Forgot them on an outing a year or so ago and made a "couple" out of rope from the back of my truck.Who gives a f*ck as long as your dogs are secure Quote Link to post
Strong Stuff 2,171
i bought a collar from bell man and flint and was not that impressed with it to be honest. the collar in the top of the pics is one i got made by francis kelly and the second is bell man and flint. the stiching is not in the same class in my opinion. dont know what the couples are like but they look well made when i have seen them at the shows. i must of just had bad luck! JPT The first one looks quality, there's a lot of time gone into making that, I tried to learn to stitch leather but when there are craftsmen like that already I'll stick to what I know. The second one .............. I'd be asking for my money back! That looks like it has been as cheaply as possible using the absolute minimum of leather, the return piece that goes under the D ring couldn't possibly be any shorter! Not good! I'd have sent that back and asked if they were happy with it, if they weren't then why should you be! Thanks to the lads above for the feedback, much appreciated! Quote Link to post
jpt 285
i phoned them back strong stuff but they said they could not exchange it or refund it because it was a made to measure collar. i have just put it in the cupboard and forgotten about it because it gets me pissed off when i look at it! i was shocked to be honest when i got it because the rest of there stuff looks good but what i was sold is shit!
