along the river banks

out today on the new farm,there are a fair few rabbits on here but they are reluctant to go to groud.so we decided to follow the river round and see what turns up.soon as we get through the gate dogs put 3 to ground in a 15 holer,most of the holes were on theriver bank and unnetable.so we set what we can and hope for the best,ferrets in andi notice a missed hole, just get a net on and out pops a black rabbit.all hell going on underground then another bolt then another,quickly dispatched then the ferrets appear,box them up and moveon.the dogs were working the rushes as we walked and put a couple to ground ,when we got to them they were marking acouple of holes,on further inspection i could not count the holes there wasso many,so we decided to run the long nets where we could and take pot luck.nets set ferrets in,nothing for about 20 minsthen rabbits shooting all over,mostly along the roots by the river and away for another day.finished up with 6 big rabbits,ferrets out on to the next warren ,same scene again 4 more in the bag .time pushing on so start heading back,dogs mark a little 4 holer nets on ferrets in straight away one in the net ,next something thats only happened to me a couple of times 2 in the net result.over the moon with that forgot to put net on and another one makes a break for freedom,did not get far before the dog retrived it,ferrets out and time to go.finished the day with 18 big fat healthy rabbits.
