malc1 544
isnt stamina how quick a dog can recover between runs like a dog that can run a rabbit one after the other and keep going is good stamina then you get dogs that run one after the other and stop thats bad stamina i might be wrong but it will get us all thinking I don't think that is stamina, recovery rate is related to fitness, the fitter the dog ,the quicker the dog recovers between runs. Stamina is the ability to maintain a high work load for a prolonged period without rest. thats what i ment a dog that can run rabbit after rabbit and not tier is good stamina so his recovery rate is also greater so stamina and recovery play a big part together Quote Link to post

Stamina is the ability to run a long distance without stopping to recover. The ability to run lots of short runs with recovery in between, is more related to fitness. 1 Quote Link to post
phil_h 53
so guys after enjoying reading through all these thoughts i myself would say most agree on saluky blood for out and out stamina? Quote Link to post
iceman001979 1,316
The saluki the ultimate staying dog if it wasn't then the match men and the single coursing men would not be using them no other breed could run a good winter hare for 6 7 mins flat out .Just asking question when you breed saluki do you use track greyhound or a coursing greyhound 1 Quote Link to post
undisputed 1,664
99% of dog owners tire long before their dogs do ,,,,just a thought but maybe the reason Saluki x's last longer is because their owners do most of the retreiving Quote Link to post
cocker 2,655
a well conditioned fit saluki, takes some beating, for stamina and recovery, and they can use this stamina and run flat out on ground that would wreck a lot of other types, Quote Link to post
