turbo28 1
Just been to some auctions for some hens, saw a few polecat jills for sale, nice small ones,so decided to bid on one and got her,i removed her from her box and put her in with my jills, she ran straight to the nest box,i put this down to a tireing day.next day i wanted to clean out the cage so i always let the ferrets run around my yard freely, however my newly aquired jill didnt come out,so i removed her and put her down, her tail was bushed right up and she just kept running from me,what i need to know is,will i get her trust?is it because she's new to me?or has she just never been handled?in wich case what should i do to improve her, because i wanted to work her alongside my other jills, but if she's gona run off she'll be no good..... johnrthrfrd 223
probably never been handled much just keep handeling her and she should come round, usualy the case with ferrets in auctions and sales people havent bothered with them then just hoy them in to get rid of them john. romany52 313
It's a very bad idea to put newly acquired ferrets in with your own, especially when you don't even know where they've come from! You should quarantine them for awhile, you don't know what you may be introducing to your stock. Quote Link to post
The one 8,504
Keep handling her and see how it goes ,but why do you think folk are selling ferrets at this time of year at auction Quote Link to post
Coneytrappr 30
Should tame down and come good, lots of patience and handling. Quote Link to post
Guest crobinc840
It really helps putting vitamin paste on their belly's while holding and petting them. I would quarintine it too you wouldn't want to lose all your stock due to one new one. Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
Allowing the animal to settle in to its new home & get it used to you handling will help greatly.. then once the animal trusts you the rest will fall into place  Quote Link to post
ferrety f 23
Out of the box, chucked in an unfamiliar cage with strange new smells and new ferrets she has never met.. Give her time mate.. should have kept her seperate for a while until she settled in and got used to you how would you feel in the same circumstances Quote Link to post
