chartpolski 23,698
Johnathan, could you elucidate on your experiences with the Arabian Gazzele Hound and the Scottish Deerhound ? I've heard they are heavily into the pedigrees of the American Coyote Hound; along with Borzoi and Whippet. Is this true ? Cheers. Quote Link to post

bird 9,926
Trust me, I "DO NOT" believe that coyotes are the only fast dangerous game. I have never heard of a sighthound being killed out right by a coyote. I am not in a pissin match neither. I just wouldnt take a pup out of a KC bred deerhound nor would I ever breed one. I would try and get dogs from folks that hunt the game I'm after day after day. I'm the last person you need to worry about thinkin I've seen it all and know it all. spot on, worker to worker, sire+dam that are proven dogs on the quarry they were bred for .? Anybody knows you take a chance with (any) pup you pick from a litter, but if the parents are proven dogs, you are in with a fighting chance. . you have to start with ped dogs + 1xs, thats what it is a (start) but the end result is or should be line bred worker to worker, the finished article Quote Link to post

I wouldn't go to far with the education bit. I checked my grammar and its appalling in my last post. lol You mentioning the Arabian Gazzele Hound takes me back to the 70's and 's when I was in the Middle East. I had this rather nice Black Range Rover that I would take out hare coursing with some Serious Arab Saluki Men. I was lucky enough to be given a few as gifts by some good friends. Now I just run my 11 month old deerhound cross bitch that is coming along lovely. I may even mate her to Bruce as I love him too. The bull/stags the Yote boys are running are a long departure from the original type what ever it was. Myself i'm gonna stick with the cur that I have. Wishing you all the best CP. Take Care, John. PS I still think DAN is the best . DAN FOR PRESIDENT !!!!!!!! I love him  Edited November 18, 2010 by Johnathon Quote Link to post

CP regarding the different breeding going into the Bull/stags your right in every aspect. legend has it, it first started in 1890's with the Borzoi/ Deerhound cross called "Timmy", which was put to various english and american Bull greyhounds. This is where the broken Jkts come from. Then before the war further breeders felt that the breed was a little too big and they wanted a tad more stamina so they added the Arabian Gazzele Hound. This produced some mean workers. Also somewhere back in the history prob after the second world war there was an injection of "Bulldog La francais" from a champion called "Bob". This has been crucial to the development of the Bull/stag as it gives it the powerful bite needed to kill yotes. Also it is where the "Bull" part of the name comes from as in "Bull"/Stag. The whippet thing didnt really happen and is just nonsense really. Hope this helps you understand things a bit better CP. I still love you Dan Edited November 18, 2010 by Johnathon Quote Link to post

Chartpolski, there are several mistakes in your post. Firstly, you appear to be unaware of the purpose of a semicolon. Secondly, there should be an apostrophe between the 't' and the 's' in the word 'let's'.Thirdly 'halfwits' is one word not two. Fourthly you have used the verb 'went' incorrectly.I think you meant to say 'gone' to school. You would do well to reflect on the saying that 'people in glass houses should not throw stones'. Some people have had the privilege of an education, many others have not.To 'take the piss' out of poorly educated members is cheap and smacks of bullying. I am afraid you are often guilty of believing yourself to be superior to others on this forum. Many lurcher owners cannot spell or punctuate. However, their posts are at least as valid as the contributions of those who imagine themselves to be a little more erudite. Bezza, we ALL make mistakes in spelling and punctuation, but some of the posts on here are unreadable !! I was replying to Graigyboy reference the "half wit" jibe, the rest of the post was a bit of banter between me and Johnathan ! To accuse me of bullying is quite wrong ! Cheers. Quote Link to post
