Seriously though, if the ban was lifted it would still only be legal for those with permission. There were no more "cowboys" before the ban than after and I'm sure most of us have done a little freelancing in the past.

If it is for hunting everything I don't see the point in changing something that has been breed for the job for centuries the Deerhound is perfect for the job. I'm not biased as I don't have one and since I don't like the taste of deer I'll never get one

A dog that is so to speak "Bred for the job" doesn't necessarily mean it will do the job. All the pure deerhounds I have seen have not been up to the job.

 

I tasted gazelle once, and I too did not like it's taste, but that doesn't mean I wont have a saluki blooded dog.

I tasted gazelle once, and I too did not like it's taste, but that doesn't mean I wont have a saluki blooded dog.

I just meant I would rather have a dog that is easier to maintain and does what I need especially since I would never hunt larger animals anyway. Every dog is different and might not do the job but they were created with it in mind. Many things make a dog good at the job not just breeding. The question was only about breed.
