See-through scope mounts.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

haven't been on for a while. Has anybody used those see through mounts which let you look under the scope and through the open sights? Am thinking of getting some but wonder if they are solid enough. I want a one-peice set as I woukld use them with my springer. I think they would be good for when your quarry is so close you can only see a blurred shape and need to aim high. Anybody had any experiece with these?

Just how high do you intend to mount your scope so that you can make full use of any iron sights fitted!

Not clever for accuracy from your scope, it should be as close to the barrel as sensibly possible, therefore see through mounts don't work!:no:

I must say, I was somewhat puzzled by the appearence or reasoning of these mounts. The circumferance of the average 40mm/44mm/50mm scope's objective lens, mounted to a spring rifle, usually bottoms-out below the set backsight, either effectively obscurring it, or, requires you to remove your open backsight to accomodate the scope properly. What's the point of mounts that permit you to see your open sights but, then obscures them with the mounted scope they are presumably there to carry?? ...I'm confused dot com. :duh:

My sisters old boyfriend had some on his relum tornado years ago and you could see the open sights fine but then he was using 4x20 scopes lol
