Its a tricky one. Personally I think 5 months is far too early to start a dog on rabbit but to be honest I have done it myself.

 

Now I would wait until the dog was 10 months - 12 months and I was happy with the recall. Every dog develops at its own pace and you need to watch and read the individual dog,

 

When I was younger I was far less patient and when you have a pup you are dying to get it started but I think its better to wait a month or two rather than rush it and wish you had waited.
