AndyL 0
If it's directly under the mouth it could be an abscess thats causing the swelling / lump. Maybe a splinter of bone (if fed if he's fed on rabbit etc) has lodged between a tooth or in his gum. Quote Link to post

If it is an abscess and you dont get it treated it will stop eating and can starve.... If its something more maligned like cancer then he will still be suffering a slow death.... Take him to a vet. The one 8,479
Only a vet can tell you for sure what wrong with your ferret mate Quote Link to post
Davidh 5
I totally agree with above comment. It doesn't matter a flying **** if you have faith in the vet. That ferret might be suffering....I know he may not show it but they are incredibly good at hiding pain. So get it to a vet ASAP. Or you will be guitly of causing possible unnecessay suffering!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to post
ryangolding 4
my mate had the same with one of his hobs, swelling around its throat and went of his food, trip to vets to find out it had a case of similar to what we get tonsilitus, a week of antibiotics and he was back to normal. TOMO 26,199
IF ITS an abses, if you squeeze it, puss will come out, if it is this,, you can treat it with anibiotics,, amoxocilin is good for this but as the others have said,, find out what it is first Quote Link to post

IF IT IS AN ABSES THE VET WILL PROBLEY DRAIN IT THERE AND THEN ITS NOT AN EXSPENSIVE DO Quote Link to post
