IanB 0
Lets not get divided on this. Vermin control is vermin control however we do it, I'd prefer overkill any day than underkill, greys are vermin at the frontline and cause our wildlife and fauna untold damage... What about killing crows, rabbits etc when out with a large caliber, if you do your bordering on being a hypocrite if you object to killing a squig with one? Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
 I'm not getting embroiled in This one. Ian has spoken. But, TFS? Expect a quick PM, mate. Quote Link to post
v-max 2
Hello as Ian said they are vermin & on the list to be killed under the wildlife & country side act for his reason's stated. As a person working in this area ie wildlife/deer/habitatmanagment etc you take the chance's you get whether it's vermin or heather burning or so you work with the weather & season's grab the bull by the horn's take the chance's. mole catcher 1
Not wanting to sound like an old woman ,BUT, im hoping it was shot whilst on the ground rather than up a tree. Just look at the implications of a miss and all that weight of the round flying through the air.WHAT GO'S UP MUST COME DOWN. If in the future shooting is banned, who would the shooters be looking at to place the blame? themselves i hope as it will be the actions of a few that will bring it to an end for many. Whatever next, shooting foxes with air rifles? Quote Link to post

Guest The Big Fish
Fox hunter ever seen long range rabbit control done with .22-250,winchester 55 grn ballistics.i believe its what they call across the pond THE RED MIST awesome, not that i would ever do it of course, ,but if i did it would be most effective at around yds onwards on a cold morning or evening (lots of steam) so im told. Years ago when i was silly, i tried the 22-250 out on a rabbit at about 30 yds, just to see what happened Quote Link to post
FOXHUNTER 5,021
Well done foxy at least your out shooting vermin keep it up Cheers mate I would also like to point out that the squirrel in question was dispatched near Keilder Forest , which to those who dont know is one of the last strongholds in the North of England for red squirrels. In my opinion and the Foresty Commissions these vermin need to be stopped before thay pass on the pox to our reds and wipe them out for good, so actually killing this squirrel wasnt just bloodthirsty but vitally important in terms of red squirrel conservation. It is of no importance how it was shot just that it was humanely dealt with Quote Link to post
