Guest ferret
out today on a estate about 90 miles from where i live ,the weather was supposed be really bad,but lets get rid of the xmas pudding,we didnt take any dogs just the guns and ferrets ,i was going to do a large bank and a small woods on a hill, there are always rabbits there,we have tried the long nets but have only caught a few,in the woods we entered the hob he went in and out of so many holes and then an explosion of two rabbits my mate was shhoting to the right of me he missed them both, what a tosser then another bolted he shot that one left it there to collect it later, the hob caught a few in the entrance of the holes as if they wanted to bolt and he caught their back end,we ended up shooting a few and pulling out of the buries with ther hob on their backs, when he went to collect the one he shot it had made its escape down a bury, good day had by all and large warrens worked in pretty quick time. mole trapper 1,693
HI fERRET,great to hear you and your mate had a great day, sorry to be a bore though, but had to mention my concern about shooting rabbits in holes with your ferrets on their backs, i now only use white ferrets on rabbit jobs because the farmer always wants to have a pop,at least this gives my ferrets the slimmest of chances of being spotted behind the rabbit. Rabbits must be left until they are clear of the holes when shooting. wishing you great sport in 2007. Quote Link to post
