Pennymeadow Whippets 0
The average price for a kc reg ped whippet pup is £300-£450 Lagunas were bred for coursing Pre B** & most are not fast enough to race at top level but have plenty of stamina for working rabbits ect Edited December 31, 2006 by Pennymeadow Whippets Quote Link to post
Ray Mears 272
thank you shes a 3/4 whippet(LAGUNA)1/4 greyhound Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
I have a whippet pup. Her sire is Sooty sam lines and mother, from coursing lines. She is coming on great and i have her for ferreting. Im in southern Ireland and payed Euro for her, but she has no papers, although she is pure bred and does have a pedigree. Im training her at present and she is coming on a treat. Frank. Quote Link to post
GRA.32 0
nice cross that mate bet you didnt pay 350 for that does the grayhound add a bit of bone to the dog it looks like a good strong dog hope it keeps coming good for you (whippit boy) Edited December 31, 2006 by GRA.32 Quote Link to post
Ray Mears 272
i find it gives the dog a bit more size to it and makes it that bit stronger spot on for ferreting and shes not to bad on the lamp. but it depens on what you want it for if its for bushing ect. i would be looking for a beddy x whippet due to pure whippets having fine coats. but if its for ferreting and lamping i dont think you could go wrong if trained right and entered at the right age some people might think different but hey thats my opinion each to there own good hunting whippet boy EDITED TO SAY I GOT IT FOR FREE!!!lol Edited December 31, 2006 by whippet boy Quote Link to post
Tina 1
I have a sooty sam/laguna bitch she's not full ped though she's a 1/2 whippet 1/2 greyhound, I've bred her to a full sooty sam/laguna whippet and the pups sold for £150 boys and £200 females, the 2 girls I've kept back for myself are very promising indeed even at there tender age of 13 weeks of age, the speed of them racing around the garden is surperb (no joking here they nearly had the next doors cat today! I was chuffed ) and they are keen as mustard, can't wait until they are older, if you get a whippet out of these lines you won't be disapointed with there ability, stamina, speed, guts, and pure determination and drive, I have also a racing bred pure whippet, took him out the other night with a friend and his pure laguna/sooty sam dog and he left my racing bred standing!! totally put him to shame, and me too I was really bragging up my racing whippet, and then he got thrashed in a run by a hunting bred whippet!! needless to say I kept my mouth shut after that will post some pictures of my 3/4 laguna/sooty sam girls tomorrow Quote Link to post
parkstone 24
Lagunas were bred for coursing Pre B** & most are not fast enough to race at top level but have plenty of stamina for working rabbits ect Not seen a Laguna bred whippet yet at racing that i'd feed their far to slow. for many years now they have been bred mainly for showing and coursing but having seen a number of them at the Hill Climb (400yds up a steep hill) they can't compeat with the pure race breds. Nimrodel were very very good working/coursing dogs but again they are now bred mainly with showing in mind. Sooty Sam lines? well you either love them or hate them. Quote Link to post
marko 30
part of the hunting pack is a black laguna/nimrodel whippet he is very game can be sent on to work ahead also works cover and woodland very well,he is a cracking dog and at the moment is taking rabbits, rats squirrels, and marks very well i would recomend these dogs to anyone espescially if its just for bunnies there aint much to touch them because of there speed and weight ratio and they can be so nimble here is a pic of him out. blackwhippet 7
Got a Sooty Sam bred bitch myself. She is coming up to 14 months old and I can`t fault her . She has great nose and all-round hunting ability . She`ll get into any cover if there is game in it , forget all the b------s people say about whippets not facing cover. She`s turning into a handy rabbiting /ferreting dog , this line of whippets isn`t the fastest in the world, but they`re bred for stamina and hunting ability not just out and out speed .
