runforyourlife 361
As I said in my post I wasn't taking sides but offering my opinion. Personally I wouldn't consider any pic of a hare taken with the aid of a lamp worthy of a fanfare....but each to his own. And each to his own opinion. got to agree with you bolio...Like you said each to there own... Its like these folk who go out in numbers on drives, killing ex amount of hares. to me it seems a total waste and barbaric but to them they love it.. Same as the shooter boys, they get off on shoting hares, even tho it is the easiest thing to hit sat out in the middle of a field.... We dont agree with lamping hares. Everyone has there preference. At the end of the day the hardest way to catch a hare is with a dog in day light hours... Im a 'shooter boy' and i assume your refering to the several posts about driven hare days that are in my thread in the shooting section. Its not done for a kick its a necessary cull thats all. But as i dont even have a lurcher i cant comment on anything else really lol peace out "your thread" I have never seen you before, let alone read anything about you. Are you a bit paranoid. I was talking hunting in general.... you totally miss understood the post mate... And i do have a gun. And i was on a beating team.... each to there own, so as you put at the end, lol... runforyourlife 361
As I said in my post I wasn't taking sides but offering my opinion. Personally I wouldn't consider any pic of a hare taken with the aid of a lamp worthy of a fanfare....but each to his own. And each to his own opinion. l hunt both day and night what people have remember that it is a lucher after the hare at night not a longdog built and breed for the day time hare. Most hares that are caught at night by a lamping dog are in small fields because in big open fields on the lamp most lamping dogs could not keep up with a good hare. HOW THE f**k DO YOU KNOW!! YOU HAVE ONLY OWNED A LURCHER FOR 2 SEASONS, AND ONE OF THEM IT WAS A PUP!! Had lucher past 3 seasons because l got out off the game been doing it from l was 15 but stop because got 3 my dogs poisoned and had enough now been back past three year and have 3 dogs now l have seen and done most things seen the best off days and seen the bad days but that is life don't question me about what l know and don't know .You tell what l said was wrong????? OK, tell me mate.... why would you have asked all the questions you did, if you have been in the game that length of time.... what typee of lurcher, best bushing dog, etc... Now your a top hare man. some of these guys you are debateing with on this thread mate, have been at it for years and genuinely do know there stuff, they know who i mean.. Quote Link to post
runforyourlife 361
I dontsee the point either in arguing with the guy for putting a hare up. He caught it by what ever means, its the hunting season, thats what we do... I think the real thing here is the comments made for no aparrant reason.... Also the fens always get mentioned. This is where young hares shouldnt get killed, as usually you are slipping the dogs.... On the land we work, rough moorland, and large areas of bush ground, leverets cant help but be killed, as the dogs are off and bushing up... Anything moves, its usually fair game... So many experts on the coursing subject... I think it time we all put our ages up!! then we can actually see how many years of experience most of us have had. Reason i say this, is i feel that there are a lot of young ones, who have walked the fens for maybe a season, or anywhere else. And know the score... Russ. Quote Link to post
Clare 33
nice looking hare, nothing better than a nice hare roast mmmm as for all the comments I will poach and stuff the Law, Never come to East Yorkshire then, the law around me a actively seeking poachers or people coursing with more than two dogs, to prosecute, and when I mean actively I mean out regular during the night and day, they have already prosecuted and taking dogs of one bloke found with a hare, I know the ban is a f**k up, but at the end of the day breaching it is not doing hunting any favours we all want the ban lifted so we should be lawful and work together to try and get it lifted (what fingers crossed it will happen) as for running your dog at deer, looking at the pic she was no large game dog and you shouldn't be running dogs if you care so little (or have such little sense) for them and letting a small game dog have a go at large game Clare Quote Link to post

I know what your talking about, Im condemning no hunter just stating on a public forum maybe not the best to be bragging about poaching and taking quarry that is now banned to be hunted with dogs? I love lurcher's and watching them work, growing up I always had greyhounds, whippets and worked them, Its only in the last ten years that I got heavily involved in gundogs 1 Quote Link to post

But saying the only good hare is a dead one is a fairly cuntish thing to say. If i go out on a sunday morning to get a few runs i dont mind if my dogs gets 3/3 or 0/3, for me its about watching the dog use the skills he has and the hare using his. I also eat any hares my dogs kill, i feel very sorry for you if you rely on catching hares to feed your dogs.. Things must be tough...... 1 Quote Link to post

But saying the only good hare is a dead hare is what i have a problem with. At the end of the day quarry deserves the utmost respect and be given a fair chance, whether its a rabbit, hare, pheasant or fox. I don't see lamping hares as giving them a fair shot just my opinion.. Quote Link to post
