andyfr1968 772
None of the above, they're all shit. Second hand HW or Webley would be much better and The Walter Mitty's are very under-rated too... Quote Link to post
Buster321c 1,010
Air Arms TX200HC HW97 To mention a couple of quality guns , much better than any you have mentioned so far . It pays you to go that extra bit if you can , and either of these will last years , not months . Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Hi Collie, The rifles that you have posted will im sure kill vermin humanely at medium ranges (15 to 25 metres)maybe a bit further if the shot placement is perfect. Remember that some of the rifles you have posted have a very hard trigger pull so accuracy isnt as easy as with a rifle with a Computer Designed or Rekkord trigger unit (AA and HW). A gun light but full power springer is the HW99 or the HW95K. A BSA Super Sport is also light, but no where near as good as the other 2 above. Second hand but excellant condition is what you will be looking at mate for your budget. ATB Si Quote Link to post

Night Hunter 109
Hi collie, you could always give him a gift voucher for your local gun shop and hopefully if he gets some other cash gifts he could club them together and buy a new hw definately worth thinking about mate ,that way your not buying someone elses problems and he would get some warranty from the shop. RAMCAM 4
Hi I would not touch any of those rifles you listed, they are cheaply made with twangy springs and poor quality triggers. My mate bought the Gamo Shadow and it was doing 7ftp out of the box. I would go for a second hand BSA Lightning or one of the lighter weight Weihrauchs that "Zini suggested" Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Hi young fella. The Weihrauch HW95k probably fits the bill better than any rifle mentioned Collie, with the Weihrauch HW99 a darn good second. A good hunt about will find a good second hand one that's been traded in for an upgraded rifle. I have to say, a lot of people really skimp on spending decent money for shooting kit, buy the cheapest naffest gear they can find then wonder; 1. Why it doesn't work. 2. Why it breaks/fails so easily. 3. Why it's so inaccurate as to be useless. 4. Why they have to go out to buy again. The Gamos are just cheaply made junk, fit for plinking in the back garden and the Norica Dragon particularly, has the worst trigger of any rifle I've tried. It needs so much effort to pull it, it's a good result if your shot hits anywhere near your target. Most BSA spring rifles belong in fairgrounds but the Lightning's not bad. The Super Sport is, at best, adequate, but no great deal of a hunting rifle for much over 25 yards hunting range. Hope you get a happy outcome. Simon Quote Link to post

nod 285
the bsa supersport has ben mentioned a few times on here already and the results havent been good, i would say this is the best starting springer airgun, i have killed alot with mine since i got it 12 years ago, fitted a theoben gas ram in it, i still use it now, i wont get rid of it, its battered now, but still has the power and accuracy even open sighted, weuse to practice shooting 2p's at 30 yards and was hitting most of the time after practice, they are light easy to cock easy to handle will take out rabbit at 45yd, will take out a goose in the river . i love em.
