perhaps not much relative to others, but for me, I can't justify it for what does take vey few manufacturing steps indeed, they must be making a killing on those things....

Please explain- I would have tought they would, there's not that many manufacturing steps, each one probably takes about an hour to make, so there would be a pretty big mark up, they can charge the high prices because they know people will buy them- unless of course each one is hand made, then I could understand....

or was it  at the bad, unintended pun? I dunno...

Ive got the 1517 Hmr thumb hole stock and 14" barrel and whisper mod and i cant fault the blue tip Hornady ammo in my gun i can shoot bottle tops and 2p coins with no trouble at 100yards off my bipod on 8x mag on my scope and ive also tried remmy ammo and not much different except its more expensive so im sticking with the blue tips, could be a bad batch of ammo try it another gun and see what happens if you can.

if a Arnie is shooting flyer's make sure everything is tight when scoping up wait a minute before each shot i have the 1517 don't clean it till i have to the only thing to clean regular is the mod the guns are 100% you get what you pay for 9 times out of ten humane error if you are hitting 2" groups at 100 yards its dead .you are not shooting air riffles pellet on pellet (same hole) 30 to 40 yards as we all expect me included i shoot out of a 4x4 arnie 22lr & arnie 17 hmr completely different position to shooting off a bipod its a lot harder once youre confidence goes it gets worse and we blame the gun wind

rabbit just not sat right

wrong its humane error :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

After double checking I did find that the action screws were not as tight as they should have been. The barrel was almost touching the forend on one side.Sorted this and went and tried the blue tips again along with the federals and remmies. Not much time as it was getting dark. First impressions were that the groups were smaller at 100 yds.Shot 3 groups of 5 with all brands with the remmies the best followed by the blue tips with the federal noticably worse. I was a bit at the hurry up as the light was fading and my base was not as firm as I would normally test under. Got soaked later and was suprised that the screws were loose again when I got home. The following morning I removed the action from the stock and removed some tight areas from the stock.Sealed bare wood and re-assembled this time giving the screws a bit more force on my stable workbench.. Am confident that it will shoot better this weekend weather permitting.

Keep you posted

been out today and done some testing with the different brands. After doing the work on the stock and tightening the screws it turns out that the best groups were from the hornady blue tips!. Load of fuss about nothing in the end. Thanks to all that responded to this posting, sometimes it is better to get an opinion from others rather than try to work things out for yourself.
